Pride of place on Lake Wolfgang
Set against a backdrop of forested hills and looking out over the shimmering waters of Lake Wolfgang, St Gilgen is a gorgeous summer retreat. Once home to the family of iconic Salzburg-born Mozart (though the composer himself never lived here), local pride of his legacy is evident throughout the town.
The town itself is easy to fall in love with thanks to its laid-back atmosphere, ornate buildings with colourful window boxes, and restaurant seating spilling out onto the streets.

Ride the Zwoelferhorn cable car to the top of the mountain for an awesome view over the Austrian lake district. From here, there are great hiking options, incredible sunrise yoga classes, and tandem paragliding flights for an unforgettable mountain experience.
