The most flexible ski holidays, made easy. Let's go.
The beautiful hiking hub you won’t want to leave
For full-on mountain immersion, the quaint little village of Tux will capture your heart. It’s nestled in the gorgeous Tux Valley, surrounded by lush green meadows ascending into dense pine forest. Local farming community is alive and well here, which you’ll notice on your hikes as you pass by small mountain farms still in operation. Tux Valley’s star attraction is the Hintertux Glacier. Aside from phenomenal views, there’s loads of activities on offer up here. And in contrast to panoramic views, explore Spannagel Cave, the longest cave network in the Central Alps, and journey deep into the mountain.
6 reasons we think you’ll love summer in Tux
Hiking made simple
Hiking is the number one pastime in the Tux Valley, and they’ve thought of everything. There’s a free bus to take you to trail heads, and even a hiking taxi service if you are planning a tricky point-to-point route.
Year-round skiing
Escape the heat and take advantage of summer skiing at Hintertux Glacier, Austria’s only resort to offer skiing 365 days a year. Undoubtedly, it’s the best time to get some practice in while avoiding the winter crowds.
Explore a glacier
Even at the height of summer, you can descend into an icy world beneath the ski slopes of Hintertux Glacier. Carved from the glacier, the ice walls of this fairy-tale-like grotto glow with a blue hue. A truly magical experience.
Pool adventures for kids
On hot days when all you want is to lie in the sun, head to Finkenberg adventure pool. This outdoor pool also has a large sunbathing lawn with deckchairs for hire. Plus, the pool is great for keeping kids entertained.
Easy e-biking
If you’re more a fan of the sights than the physical challenge, perhaps it’s time you hired an e-bike. They’re so popular here in Tux that you’ll find charging stations throughout the valley along with specially recommended e-bike routes.
Chapel with a view
Built with an enviable view on a sunny plateau looking out over the Zillertal mountains, the Granatkapelle Chapel is not your everyday chapel. Constructed from local timbers, it forms the shape of a rhombic dodecahedron.
