Banff Park Lodge

Banff

Great location, clean rooms, great staff, was under construction but still surrounding was clean and everything was accessible.
In the lodge food choices were not so great, but nearby quite a few options to eat out.

Overall good but expensive.

While Banff Park Lodge did mention they were undergoing construction, the reality of the lobby renovations was far worse than expected. The site is so extensive that accessing the rooms is incredibly difficult, especially if you are assigned to the northern part of the hotel, as there is only one open entrance. Furthermore, the local administration has closed the street, making the entire area feel completely unsettled. If I had known the true extent of the disruption, I would have changed my reservation.

The service was equally disappointing. When I arrived around noon, the front desk agent made me feel completely unwelcome. Worse, I distinctly heard her talking about me behind my back when I came for help later that night. If staff members have feedback or policies to share, they should address the guest directly and politely rather than whispering about them. On top of that, basic amenities were lacking; for instance, the vending machine by the parking lot was barely stocked.

I chose this property expecting a higher-end experience in the Banff area, but it feels more like a budget hotel that caters heavily to large travel groups. To top it off, the cleanliness was unacceptable: the coffee mugs in our room were covered in lint and dirt, and dirty dishes left in the area were never picked up before our arrival or throughout our entire stay. I would not recommend staying here until renovations are complete and management addresses their service standards.

Not meeting the standard

The location was beautiful and within walking distance with the center of Banfftown. The staff were very helpful and communicative. They have a WhatsApp channel and this makes communicating with them so much easier for simple questions. We had a very late check in but we didn't have too much trouble with checking in.

Great hotel. Great location. Bar used in the evening & had breakfast there a couple of mornings, good choice. Helpful staff, clean rooms

Great hotel

Beautiful mid-century modern nuanced hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Guest Services are highly attentive to the needs of their clients. 

One small recommendation would be to get better in-room coffee facilities, like Nespresso, for example—which would be more up to par with the level of the hotel. 

But I will give it a 5-star rating because it has been so exceptional for us.
