Efficient staff, specially the lady at the front desk (a very nice Dutch) who helped us find an accommodation even in a short notice and full booking. Highly recommend not only for the Camping but also for the cool area around.  

A place to return every year

we are sorry for the problem with the gate. It was caused by a mistake of the night guardian that worked till 5.30 and then forgot to give the key to the cleaning lady to open the gate. In fact, to allow the surfers to drive to Malcesine early in the morning, we dispose that the cleaning lady, who arrives at 5.30, can open the gate to the guests who need to go out. 

We understand you are very upset cause you couldn’t leave at 7.00; it is right that you write your disappoint for this problem but it is not right that you write that Camping al Porto is not indicated for windsurfers. Probably,  considering you have been here just one night, you don’t know our customer’s target, which is also made by windsurfers and sailors. 

The pitch were you stayed is 70 m large and this is a good size for the standard of North Garda, but if  the guests prefer it, they can have a maxi pitch that is 90 m large.  

By the way, in the next winter, the sanitary block house will be renewed and  the campsite will become the only 3 stars campsite of Torbole. We invite you to visit us again next year and if possible for a longer time than one night, we are sure you will change your opinion about us.

I have stayed at campgrounds in Torbole and the surrounding northern Lake Garda towns for more than 25 years. We spent one night at Camping al Porto in September, 2016 as a test, as we were on our way home and wanted to rest for one night, then continue early the next morning. 
The owner assured us that we could leave at 7 am the next morning, as the gate would be open. When we got there, the electrically-operated gate was closed and wouldn't open. We tried to phone him, but there was no reply. A sign on the gate said it would open at 7:30, but it didn't. After multiple phone attempts, the cleaners gave us the number of a relative of the owner, who had to drive from Riva to open the gate. Another couple was already waiting from 6:30 am. We heard from them and from others, that this was normal procedure and that the owner would probably only arrive and open the gate when the office opened at 8:30. I wouldn't have minded if he hadn't explicitly assured us of the opposite.

It is common for wind and kitesurfers staying in Torbole to drive down to Malcesine early in the morning to catch the Vento wind at 6 to 7 am, then come back to Torbole at midday. Most campground owners know this and allow campers to go out early, as they constitute a large proportion of the tourists coming to northern Lake Garda. Camping al Porto is obviously not a good choice if you're planning on windsurfing or kitesurfing here. Also, if you're planning on windsuring in Torbole too, you have to carry your gear about 50m to the water. There are better campgrounds nearby for this with direct access to the beach.

Apart from that, the amenities were good enough. The shower block and toilets were new and clean and there was a good snack bar on the premises. The individual camp sites are small and close to each other. Ours was loud at night as it was next to the street to the beach and only separated from it by a hedge.

For bikers, climbers and non-windsurfers, probably OK, but there are better sites in the vicinity.

Average and not for early risers or Vento windsurfers and kitesurfers

Friendly people, surfing, mountain biking, table tennis, excellent view. It is always something to do here especially with good company. WiFi is paid but you can pause the amount of time. Laundry, toilet and shower very well.

Located in the heart of Torbole ( a mecca for sailing and windsurfing), this nice site was built on what was the owner’s family farm 20 years ago. It is peaceful, set back from the main road, close to the water. Lake access is about 50 m. along a road to the rear of the site near a tiny pretty marina. In a short walk you can find supermarkets, restaurants, pizzerias, banks, a post office, shops and cafés. Camping Al Porto is the ideal place for your active holiday at Lake Garda. Facilities: The clean, modern toilet block has British and Turkish style WCs and hot water throughout. Facilities for disabled campers. Washing machine and dryer. Motorcaravan services. Bar with cappuccino, beer and snacks incl. light breakfast. Playground area. Off site : Swimming, windsurfing and sailing on Lake Garda. Mountain biking, hiking, climbing, canyoning and fishing nearby.
