I stayed at Les Crêtes Blanches for just one night (Sunday into Monday), and it was, without question, the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had in a ski resort — or frankly anywhere.

The room was appalling. It felt like stepping into a time warp from the 1970s — only without any of the charm. Everything was tired, worn out, and in desperate need of refurbishment. The bathroom was a particular horror show: dirty silicone around the edges, a sink so old it was cracked, and a general feeling of filth that made me want to avoid touching anything. Everything about the place screamed “neglect” and “cut corners.”

The location is passable, but certainly not the best — a reasonable walk to the slopes, but hardly the ski-in/ski-out convenience that many other nearby hotels offer. Speaking of which, there are far better options in the area. I had stayed earlier in the week at another hotel which was fantastic, but sadly it closed for the season on Sunday, forcing me to endure a night here. I wish I had just driven home early rather than subject myself to this dump.

The real kicker — and what left me absolutely furious — was what happened after skiing on Monday. I had to check out by 10am but had planned to ski for a few hours before driving back to Geneva for my flight to London. In the morning, I specifically asked if there would be a shower I could use after skiing and was assured it would be no problem. However, when I returned after skiing, tired and sweaty, they flatly refused. They told me there were no showers available and the only option was to book another night — yes, an entire night — just to use a shower for 15 minutes. What an absolute joke.

I would have been more than happy to pay a cleaning fee for the use of a room for a short time, but instead they expected me to either pay for another full night or drive four hours to Geneva and board a plane reeking of sweat after a morning on the slopes. Utterly shameful. It shows a complete lack of basic hospitality or customer care.

Les Crêtes Blanches is a relic that needs gutting from the ground up — not just its physical rooms, but its attitude towards guests. I will never return, and I strongly urge anyone considering staying here to look elsewhere. This hotel is an embarrassment to the area and should be avoided at all costs.

Les Crêtes Blanches – A Complete Disgrace

Within a stone's throw of the pistes, the Hotel Les Cretes Blanches, was founded in 1965 by the Vaquier family and is a 3 star property situated in the heart of Val d'Isere. This world famous ski resort boasts a vast number of lifts and a huge ski terrain. The Espace Killy is on your doorstep, connecting Val d'Isere and Tignes with 300km of exceptional pistes. The Hotel is situated only 250m from the main lifts and 150m from the bus station. One of the many advantages of its location is the easy pedestrian access to the village which is typical of life in Val d'Isere. The Hotel welcomes you to one of its 30 well-appointed, comfortable rooms facing either towards the legendary piste "Face" of Bellevarde, or towards the village. All rooms have satellite television, an ensuite bath or shower room and a hair dryer. The traditional Savoyarde decor invites you to relax and enjoy your holiday with parents, children or friends. It's a place everyone will want to return to. The living room, set on the first floor, is flooded with natural light during the day, and warmed by a log fire at night. Gather in cozy corners, sinking into the soft sofas after a good day skiing. Hotel services include a varied and plentiful buffet breakfast served in the dining room with large windows from which to enjoy the scenery. Ski passes are available for purchase from reception and wifi is free and unlimited.
