Chalet du Lys Hotel & SPA

Gressoney

Stayed here for a week’s skiing holiday in family ski trip. The hotel location is good for skiing being a short walk to the main lifts. The hotel is clean and well maintained but lots of things could be improved. The water supply in the rooms is inadequate at busy times, something the management is aware of but cannot resolve, and bathrooms are on the small side. Good breakfast and dinner starter buffet, but the main course at dinner served  as a piece of meat without any accompaniments. Spa area is too small for the size of the hotel and would get very busy after skiing. The outdoor pool is de facto  a kids pool because they aren’t allowed in the spa area, so unfortunately not somewhere you can relax and enjoy the mountain views. Ski room is rather old fashioned and uncomfortable; open racks can easily lead to skis being misplaced or mixed up.
All in all comfortable enough for a short stay, but I wouldn’t rush to return until some improvements are made.

Quirky

Chalet du Lys is an entirely pleasant hotel but is certainly not 4 star standard. The high points are the friendly staff, good food and a great location but the hotel itself is in need of a refurbishment. The spa is pleasant but there were never any towels supplied and although the food was good, the cleanliness was not always top rate- the morning coffee cups were generally grubby with a high proportion of chips. However; I would stay there again.

Slightly disappointing

Faultess week’s ski holiday. Fantastic hotel and very convenient for the slopes and central to the entire Monterosa Ski area. The food was very good and they catered very well for my wife’s food intolerances to alliums. The service in the restaurant was impeccable and Salvatorie was absolutely fantastic. We also loved the piano player at dinner, an amazing talent with a huge repertoire. All staff were great. Very nice spa facilities too. I would return and will recommend this hotel and resort to anyone.
