Awful hotel. This is not 4 star, more like 2 stars at a push. Me and my partner had to push two single beds together and had one tiny pillow each. There was absolutely no space to put any of our belongings bearing in mind we were there for a whole week. The showers were so hot and cold, it was impossible to stand underneath to have a proper wash. The boot warmers were broken in the ski rooms. The only bonus was the sauna & steam room which were amazing but the rooms are in definite need of upgrading and re-designing as ours was nowhere near fit for purpose!! There was nowhere to relax after a long day of skiing and the lighting was terrible, couldn’t see a thing. The apartment overall was dark, dingy and not fit for purpose. Avoid.

It seems this hotel may be in decline…

This holiday was booked as a package (flights, transfer, hotel) for 7 friends. On arrival we were told to wait 4 hours for our room to be ready by 5pm! Never have I had such a late check in… considering when you leave it is your responsibility to strip off the bed, empty bins, do the recycling, wash up dishes… what takes them so long?!?! After waiting 4 hours our room still was not clean, I had a plaster from the previous stay under my bedside table and  a dirty kitchen. 

They only allow one pillow per person so a lot of us found sleeping very uncomfortable, and we were  having to pad out pillows out with our own clothing.

The communal area in our apartment was not comfortable for a group of people which is a shame as we planned to have a few games nights in, which we headed out instead… 

For 7 people we were only given 2 toilet rolls and when we asked for more we were made to seem like a nuisance.

Upon arrival we found the staff to be rude but they did get better as the trip went on…

I wouldn’t say this is exactly a ski out hotel as you do need to walk to the nearest piste. The ski in is a steep, short and often busy red so not for beginners. 

At night the red fox bar down stairs can be super loud so I wouldn’t even think about getting an early night, unless you can sleep through all the  shouting, banging and chanting.
 

What I will say is this hotel has stunning views from the balcony and it’s super super warm (sometimes too warm we had the doors open most of the time). Apart from that I’m just so glad the skiing in Val Thorens was just incredible!! 

If I were to come back to Val Thoren I’d be going to different accommodation for sure. 
 

Very disappointing

Staff were rude and unhelpful. Rooms are not properly clean. False advertising for ski in ski out as there is an extremely dangerous red slope to ski back to the apartment. Plenty of other nicer places to stay in Val thornes, I would avoid this place.

Not as it seems

Another absolutely awesome visit to Val T. Location, weather and accommodation perfect for a getaway with friends for a brilliant ski trip. Ski out a bit tricky on occasion but made easier if you’ve visited the Folie Douce. Having the Red Fox pub connected to the hotel makes for some great après-ski.
