Garni Le Chalet is owned and managed by a caring and friendly older couple, Franz and Linda.  I stayed with them for 8 days in Sept and they made me welcomed.  Linda went out of her way to fix me extra hot teas and to boil an egg or two for breakfast.  When I took a sick day, she checked on me.  I stayed in a small room with a large double bed (#4) on the back side.  If you want a view, ask for the front side. The hotel is one block from the Tourist info office and about that far from bus stops for neighboring towns, Selva and Ortisei.  Very convenient though a tad uphill as are most places in Val Gardena.  I enjoyed my stay here and have a special place for the hosts.

If you are looking for something lavish and an over priced bed then do not consider Garni Le Chalet.
If you value great hosts, clean. and tidy rooms, nice breakfast (without being opulent), and awesome value for money then do you best to book in here.
Your husband (Franz) and wife (Linda) hosts are born and bread in Santa Cristina. 
Linda is front of house and speaks Ladin (local language to this part of Val Gardena), Italian, German, and English.
The only reason I did not give them 5stars is that the rooms are small - large enough and have plenty of storage, etc, but it is a very small compromise considering you are not visiting Santa Cristina to sit in your accomodation.
Located within 50mtrs from the bus (goes every 10 mins til Selva and Ortisei), 100mtrs to ski lift, 150mtrs from shops and restaurants.
Make your our mind up and don't blame me if you over look this one :)

Garni Le Chalet is a crown jewel in Santa Cristina; hotel had a great breakfast and the room was spotless.  The hotel is centrally located in Santa Cristina/5-10 min walk to everything; 1 min walk to the grocery store; plenty of good restaurants within a 5 min walk; everything was wonderful; will come back.

very clean and quiet, the owners are two wonderful elderly people, very kind and very responding to our demands. in the evening we could stay in the food area as long as we want to talk, to play cards, to drink a wine.
pension is located at 5 min walking distance to bus station and 5 min by car to Saslong cablecar (we can see the final part of the slope from the balcony).  restaurants are very close (5-7 min).
