My family made an online reservation for four people (two adults, two kids) to have dinner at the hotel's restaurant on New Year's Eve. When we made the reservation, we were never told that there was a prix fixe menu. When we showed up at the restaurant, however, we were given the prix fixe menu, which didn't include any prices. My wife approached the manager and asked how much the meal would cost. The manager told her that it would be 340 euros per person and my wife said that we can't afford that and so we will leave. The manager then said that we couldn't leave, and if we did, the restaurant would still charge our credit card for four people (because we had to provide it to hold the reservation). My wife then asked if we could send our kids home because they wouldn't eat most of the items on the menu, but the manager shockingly said no to that too.

This is highly unethical behavior because the restaurant never disclosed to us that it would be a prix fixe menu when we made the reservation and gave our credit card info - and the restaurant certainly never disclosed that it would cost 340 euros per person, including for kids. We are a working-class family and can't afford spending this much money on a meal. Our kids did not eat much of the food and the speaker for the band was set up right next to our table so we were unable to hear each other talk for much of the meal. Thankfully, a table next to us (who wasn't even directly next to the speaker) complained about the speaker so the manager offered to turn it away from us. 

It was truly a horrible experience and we felt as if we were held hostage because the restaurant had our credit card information (which of course we gave without knowing about the expensive prix fixe menu). This last meal in France destroyed a wonderful vacation for our family. We highly advise staying away from this horrible hotel and restaurant.

Horrible Experience for our Family that Ruined an Otherwise Great Trip
