I really enjoyed my week here. Comfortable, clean, friendly and i great location. Quiet but only 5 mins walk to the main Street. Family run and traditionally Austrian. I felt at home. Great buffet breakfast and evening meals were great! I looked forward to them. Thank you for a great stay! Hope to come back sometime....

A comfortable stay

This was our second time visiting the Strolz in recent times.  The trip is something we planned and arranged ourselves so dealt with the Strolz direct with regards to booking rooms etc.  Straight forward, deposit sent rooms secured.  No issues.  Firstly the food, this was very good and the chef deserves a mention.  Despite the lack of choice (except a veggie option), the standard quality and imagination was better then some of the 4 and 5  star establishments we have stayed in....  Each morning the menu was passed around and either the standard fare or the veggie option were the only 2 options available.  
Rooms - We were based in the main hotel with balcony views.  We had a mixture of single rooms and twin rooms.  The rooms were very clean and tidy, with fresh towels delivered every day along with the room being cleaned.  Our housekeeper greeted everyday with a 'good morning' and a smile which was nice.  The pool area was also thoroughly clean and spotless.
One of the group had a mishap on day 1 which meant a trip to the doctors.  She had severe bruising and thanks to the hotel they lent us a wheel chair to push her around on in the hotel for 24 hours until she was able to walk again without pain.  
So all in all a very good holiday and a good time was had by all.  Hans was friendly and accommodating from our arrival until our departure, so was Evo (one of the waiters).  Hans was even able to provide the lift passes which saved messing about at the lift station.
Our only gripe - No bar area.  Drinks are available to order from the lounge area, but the lack of a bar just seems to slightly dampen things down a bit, plus its nice to see what else is behind the bar in case something catches your eye or you fancy something different. 
Would we stop there again?  A definite YES.

Hotel Strolz,  Skiing Mayrhofen 2026 -

The hotel itself is excellent value for money — the location is great, the food is very good, and the staff are consistently friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the overall experience is let down significantly by the owner.

I understand that as a foreign guest I may not always be familiar with local customs, but in hospitality you expect a certain level of warmth and welcome. From the moment of arrival, the interaction felt cold and uninviting. Initially, I assumed this might be due to a busy day, but it quickly became clear that this was his usual manner throughout the stay.

Rather than clearly explaining how things work, there was a tendency to correct guests after the fact, often in a blunt or uncomfortable way. Each evening, he would sit at the entrance of the restaurant observing guests, which created an awkward atmosphere rather than a relaxed one. Being asked to settle drink bills at the end — without this process being properly communicated beforehand — added to the frustration, especially given the tone in which it was handled.

It’s a real shame, because the rest of the experience was genuinely enjoyable. However, one person’s attitude had a noticeable impact and ultimately detracted from what could have been a fantastic stay.

Crystal ski Holiday

I agree with others, there’s a real mix of pros and cons with this place. Real shame as it could be fab! 

Super location, very clean, room was a great size. Food is of a good quality, however it’s a set menu & traditional Austrian cuisine. Our party were fine with this, however I suspect dietary requirements/fussy eaters may struggle. 

There is a “sort of” lounge, no bar. You have to go to the restaurant to ask for drinks. This is a wasted opportunity, we would have spent much more money had we not have had to keep chasing staff for a drink. This room also lacks atmosphere. 

As a party of 9 we were split across 2 tables for the whole week (the owner doesn’t let you move). We moved between the 2 tables within our party each night. The owner will let you run a table tab for the week but won’t let you sign & add to your room (like every other hotel I’ve ever stayed in)… he says this would never work!!!! It’s then tricky to split the bills appropriately at the end of the week… this is an archaic set up. 

As others have said “Hans” (owner) can be quite sarcastic, borderline rude. It’s his way or no way, his customer relation skills are zero. He doesn’t care if you agree or not, he was sharp with several of our party. 

The hotel is dated, however cleaning staff do a great job, it’s spotlessly clean. Towels & pillows are very poor, thread bare. A change of decor & some of the endless “tat” removed would make a huge difference.
