Kesselspitze Hotel & Chalet, Valamar Collection - 4 Star Superior

Obertauern

Just back from a week at this fab hotel!

Highlights:

- Amazing staff, all so friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble.

- Fresh, tasty and varied food.

- Ski in/ski out so super convenient and stress-free. Right next to 2 ski lifts and a ski equipment hire shop. Ski depot room in basement with lockers for skis etc, with door directly onto the slopes.

- Ski passes can be bought from lift stations nextdoor or at hotel reception.

- Hotel organised our daughters’ (age 9 and 12) ski school and they collected them from the hotel reception and dropped back again. They loved it and  were both on red runs by the end of the week! They did a little race and medal ceremony too which made it special for the kids.

- Pool and spa area really nice, lots of steam,salt, sauna rooms etc. kids allowed in pool at all times and in spa 12-3pm. Outside jacuzzi overlooking mountains! Both my husband and I had amazing massages.

- Hotel feels very new and clean and in excellent condition. Our v-level room 220 had great view of ski slope and separate bedroom for our girls with 2 single beds. Our bed was super comfy, lovely soft sheets and huge squishy pillows.

- Kids club and gaming room fun, well equipped and lovely staff.

- Ingrid and Allen on concierge were really helpful when we asked lots of questions before and during our stay!

- Free private shuttle service to and from anywhere in the resort, we never waited longer than 10 mins for them.

- Kesselspitze Hotel is 5 mins drive/15 mins walk up steep hill to main town which had a nice vibe with lots of ski shops and restaurants.

- Good restaurants and bars on the slopes too, at the Kringsalm we had a dj and saxophonist playing during our delicious lunch - great vibe in the sunshine!

- Highly recommend this hotel and the Valamar brand in general (have stayed in one of their Croatian hotels too) - great for families and the staff are brilliant.

Great hotel, amazing staff!

Wery good food,kind personality ,beautiful room,they have the best masagge and spa center with expert masseuse ,the whole experiance is perfect every year we visit this hotel.

Perfect

Lovely friendly hotel right on the slopes! It’s a 30 min uphill walk to the village for non- skiers but the hotel has a great shuttle . The spa/ swimming pool is beautiful and the rooms have everything you need although they are always very hot - a light duvet option would be good. 
Most of the staff are now younger Croatians who speak great English and are great fun! The overall feel is younger and livelier - except for the bar which always seems to be quiet and dull. 
It’s expensive these days to get to Obertauern at 220 euros for a taxi and no shared shuttle anymore - this used to be great and a reason to go. 
Room 102 is nice inside with a large sofa/ window seat and possibly 3rd bed - but the view is disappointing as it’s of the roof of the chalet so best avoid if possible

We booked the Kesselspitze for a week
Skiing, and were impressed by the ski in/ski out location. The hotel has direct access to Achenrainbahn and Schaidbergbahn, and you can ski back to hotel from several pistes. 
The room was very comfortable in a modern Austrian style and included a kettle and Nespresso machine. 
We had booked full board and weren’t disappointed by the food with plenty of choice. Dinner was 6 courses (if you were hungry!) with a choice of meat, fish or veggie for the main dish. There is also a great wine selection on offer from the hotel’s wine cellar. 
We also enjoyed the spa and heated indoor pool, as well as the outdoor hot tub. 
The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble.
