We have stayed at the Excelsior Planet many times via Crystal Ski.  This time we booked directly with the hotel which gave us a greater choice of room.  Our Junior Suite was very comfortable, spacious and had a large jacuzzi bath. We also had a shower, bidet, and two toilets.  The room was very well equipped with storage space for clothes, boots etc and had a kettle and cups which was much appreciated.  Large and very comfy bed which was tended by a very efficient maid who came in twice a day to tidy, change towels and clean.  The food here is exceptional with a huge hot and cold breakfast choice and a five course carefully crafted and delicious evening meal.  The waiting staff are very attentive under the direction of Tito, who makes sure everything runs smoothly.  We enjoyed skiing but this time we also enjoyed the Wine Tasting session with Ricardo.  What a knowledgeable Sommelier he is and we were very impressed not only with that, but also with his passion for wines.  We learned about wine from Aosta and other Italian regions.  As we tasted the wines, Ricardo explained the growing conditions and grapes of each which gave the variety of taste we experienced.  We feel better equipped now to select wines.  We highly recommend this session.  We will definitely be back again.

Absolutely top marks. The hotel has the best of both worlds, family run but an incredibly well oiled machine. The reception staff could not be more helpful, housekeeping is great, I used the spa twice and both treatments were excellent. As for the Chef and his team and all the waiting staff in the restaurant, absolutely top class. Every menu and meal was made with much thought, imagination,  love and care. I looked forward to every visit. As a solo traveller, I never felt overlooked or abandoned in the restaurant,  service was impeccable. 
The hotel has a perfect location, you can see the starter slopes from the bedroom window.  I was lucky enough to stay in one of the new rooms,  The Matterhorn.  
One final mention to Francesco for his to die for cocktails. I thought all the prices were extremely reasonable too for the quality.  I highly recommend this hotel to any discerning traveller. Oh, cromecast worked a treat too.

Stayed here with friends for our annual skiing holiday and definitely made the right choice.
First and foremost, it`s location to the lifts is superb, nothing more to add on that point really.
The ski cellar / boot room is on the lower ground floor, access to street level is by a rather quirky lift.
Our room was directly facing the Matterhorn, what a view to wake up to every morning.
Hotel and rooms are very clean, great all round service.
The restaurant is superb, comprehensive choice at breakfast and wonderful food at dinner with an excellent wine list as well.
Overall, a great stay and would definitely return.
