What are Courmayeur ski holidays like for skiing?
Yes. Courmayeur's skiing is world-renowned - offering 42km of local pisted runs that extend far into the Aosta Valley. Though there are some nursery slopes at Plan Chécrouit, you will find that most runs here are better suited to intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders. This, paired with its lively après scene, spectacular Mont Blanc views, and authentic Italian atmosphere, has made it a favourite for well-seasoned ski groups, couples and families alike.
Is Courmayeur ski resort snow sure?
Generally, yes. The majority of slopes sit above 2,000m, and, with its position at the foot of Mont Blanc, snow here tends stays put. That said, if things ever do look a little lean, 80% of the pistes are covered by snowmakers to help keep things nice and topped up.
Though Courmayeur is not considered high altitude, with a resort height of 1,224m, with skiing up to 2,755m, the resort is considered to have high-altitude skiing.
What are the snow conditions in Courmayeur?
With heaps of the white stuff dumping all season long, Courmayeur ski resort usually has a bumper load of snow.
The first flurries settle in December, and the slopes are looking mint by January. The south-facing slopes are magic in February, with sunny bluebird days getting in on the action. And if you prefer a little more warmth, the snowiest week tends to be at the beginning of March, topping up the pistes for some epic springtime skiing in April.
When's the best time to book a Courmayeur ski holiday?
Italy skiing is generally quieter than France and Austria, so it’s possible to find empty slopes mid-week, especially if you avoid the usual peak periods of Christmas, New Year, and February half-term holidays. You’re also more likely to pick up a bargain outside these times
Is Courmayeur good for family ski holidays?
Very. Courmayeur is an excellent choice for a family ski holiday. It offers a welcoming atmosphere, with great ski schools for first-timers, and "Winter Fun Parks" for kids with a little more snow under their skis and boards. However, bear in mind that the town is separate from the main ski area, so a cable car ride is required each morning to reach it.
How is Courmayeur skiing good for advanced skiers and snowboarders?
Courmayeur is excellent for more seasoned skiers and snowboarders, offering plenty of intermediate terrain and a smattering of black runs. However, for those serious about their skiing, Courmayeur really shines with its off-piste and heli-skiing - offering some of the best in Europe (just ensure you grab a guide!). Chief among them is the famous descent of the Vallée Blanche into Chamonix.

With transfers taking at most 1 hour and 30 minutes from Geneva and Turin Airport, it's incredibly easy to reach the slopes from airports all over the UK and Ireland - including Bournemouth, Bristol, Edinburgh, Dublin, Newcastle, and London.
Though you will need to grab a lift from town to reach the slopes - lift queues don't last long - and the main cable car stays open until midnight, so you can maximise your mountain time to the full!
