Getting to and around town:
Your airport transfer is included with your trip. Once there, you’ll find San Vigilio an excellent, relaxed base for exploring the Kronplatz area. Trails fan out into the surrounding forests and meadows from the village and the Piz de Plaies gondola departs from the outskirts of the resort.
Getting to your walks and hikes:
The Piz de Plaies gondola from San Vigilio and the Olang I&II gondola from Valdaora give you easy access to the Kronplatz summit and its panoramic trail network. Local Puster Valley buses and the Val Pusteria train connect the villages and unlocks the broader Dolomites trail network.

Can I still access Kronplatz's lift and gondolas in the summer?
Yes, you can. Kronplatz's lifts and gondolas still operate throughout the summer months, provided conditions are safe and favourable, and many of the mountain huts are still operational, so you can grab a bite to eat while savouring those epic mountain views.
When do Kronplatz's lifts and gondolas run during summer?
Piz de Plaies Gondola (San Vigilio)
- Operating times: 09:00 – 17:00
- Opens: June 19th 2026
- Closes: October 4th 2026
Olang I & II Gondola (Valdaora)
- Operating times: 09:00 – 17:00
- Opens: June 20th 2026
- Closes: October 11th 2026
A quick "Mountain Rule of Thumb": Last ascent is usually 15–30 minutes before the official closing time, and Last descent is the very last cabin down. If you miss it, it’s a long walk back!
Can I hire a mountain guide on my Kronplatz walking holiday?
Yes, you can. Though these are not currently bookable via the Heidi website, you can enquire and book with the local tourist office, or visit their website. We recommend enquiring early to ensure availability.
