Walks in Avoriaz give you endless variety. The resort shares it's enormous trail network with Morzine, Les Gets, Champéry, and Morgins. Families will love the easy meadow loops and panoramic walks around Lac des Mines d’Or, while serious hikers can push along the ridgeline to Pointe de Chavasse or descend into the Ardoàsières valley.
And as for other things to do - think mountain biking, via ferrata scrambles, and the totally tropical Aquariaz waterpark. Surf's up!

Our self-guided trips let you set your own pace, from the length of your stay, to how far you walk each day. But if you’re used to group or guided holidays, you might be wondering how you’ll get around? Well, it’s easy…
Getting to and around town:
Your airport transfer is included with your trip. Once there, you’ll find Avoriaz a fully car-free resort where horses, e-bikes, and your own two feet do all the work.
The compact village centre is entirely pedestrianised, with trails, lifts, and the resort’s famous wooden Alpine architecture all within easy reach.
Getting to your walks and hikes:
The Arare and Hauts Forts gondolas give you instant access to high-altitude trails across the Portes du Soleil — no warm-up climb required!
Free shuttle services connect you to Morzine and Les Gets while the wider Portes du Soleil bus network opens up villages, trails, and lake walks across the French-Swiss border.

Can I still access Avoriaz's lift and gondolas in the summer?
Yes, you can. Avoriaz's lifts and gondolas still operate throughout the summer months, provided conditions are safe and favourable, and many of the mountain huts are still operational, so you can grab a bite to eat while savouring those epic mountain views.
When do Avoriaz's lifts and gondolas run during summer?

A quick "Mountain Rule of Thumb": Last ascent is usually 15–30 minutes before the official closing time, and Last descent is the very last cabin down. If you miss it, it’s a long walk back!
Can I hire a mountain guide on my Avoriaz walking holiday?
Yes, you can. Though these are not currently bookable via the Heidi website, you can enquire and book with the local tourist office, or visit their website. We recommend enquiring early to ensure availability.
