Getting to and around town:
Your airport transfer is included with your trip. Once there, you'll find Le Grand-Bornand a genuine, working mountain village with a relaxed pace and an excellent local food scene. The Rosay gondola departs right from the village, and many of the best valley trails start directly from town.
Getting to your walks and hikes:
The Rosay gondola and Lachat chairlift give you fast, effortless access to the high trail network and the panoramic plateau above the village. Local buses connect the village to Le Chinaillon and the wider Aravis valley.

Yes, you can. Le Grand-Bornand's lifts and gondolas still operate throughout the summer months, provided conditions are safe and favourable, and many of the mountain huts are still operational, so you can grab a bite to eat while savouring those epic mountain views.
When do Le Grand-Bornand's lifts and gondolas run during summer?
Rosay Gondola
- Operating times: 09:15 – 17:00 (09:15 – 16:45 on pre-opening weekends and 5th September)
- Opens: Weekends from 20th June 2026; daily from 4th July 2026
- Closes: 30th August 2026 (plus weekend of 5th September 2026)
Lachat Chairlift
- Operating times: 09:15 – 17:00
- Opens: Weekends from 20th June 2026; daily from 4th July 2026
- Closes: 30th August 2026 (plus weekend of 5th September 2026)
A quick "Mountain Rule of Thumb": Last ascent is usually 15–30 minutes before the official closing time, and Last descent is the very last cabin down. If you miss it, it’s a long walk back!
Can I hire a mountain guide on my Le Grand-Bornand walking holiday?
Yes, you can. Though these are not currently bookable via the Heidi website, you can enquire and book with the local tourist office, or visit their website. We recommend enquiring early to ensure availability.
