Hotel Gran Roc

Sestriere

The hotel is in a fairly central location but they do run a shuttle service to the lifts which was very useful. The bar was lively at night and the restaurant was of a reasonable quality and was varied every night. The staff were all very helpful

Nice hotel with a lively vibe to it

Spacious room, warm, modern,  clean. Nice shower, hairdryer in bathroom. Free safe in room. 
Kettle in room but only paper cups so bring own mugs. Nice big modern bar area, nice bar staff. 
Shuttle bus service excellent will run to gondola or chair lift in centre and pick up between 3pm & 5pm. 
Good breakfast, 2 coffee machines, dont bother with orange juice, like flavoured water.  
Staff all friendly and helpful
Not a lot of storage in bedroom, only 8 coat hangers and no coat hooks on walls, had to store ski gear in the floor. 
Quiet hotel, slept well. 
Ski lockers don't lock!
Never spotted free tea and coffee in the afternoon that we were told was available at check in.
Evening meal often luke warm and served on cold plates, and served super quick (too quick, 1 course straight after another). Main course is either meat or fish no veg or salad,  veg is available on buffet but is all served cold. 
It is a nice warm, comfy hotel but unfortunately the evening meal was very disappointing and this would stop us from booking this hotel again.

Overall the hotel is a good choice for skiing in Sestriere. 

Food: We booked through Crystal on a half board basis. Breakfast was a buffet style with continental and hot options available. Dinner included a salad/starter buffet, pasta/soup course followed by a meat/fish/vegetarian main meal and dessert. As Crystal guests, we were provided with a bottle of water and the option of fruit juice, however, this was not the case for other guests. Overall, we found the meals to be tasty however a few meals came as a surprise, but we put that down to getting lost in translation. 

Service: The staff were always helpful with a few requests throughout and would offer to make bookings or recommendations if you asked. 

Rooms: Modern, well heated, well equipped and generally clean. There was a walk-in wardrobe, kettle with tea facilities and mini fridge.  Overall the hotel was quiet, however during the evenings the corridor noise did easily penetrate our room. Overall this was not an issue as by 11pm everyone seemed to go sleep. The hotel also had a heated boot room available to use for free which was a great way to start and finish the day and meant equipment did not need to be stored in your room.

Location: The hotel is well-located with a 15 minute walk to the resort centre and a 10 minute walk to the nearest lift. There is a free shuttle that runs in the morning and afternoon to help you get to the slopes. This was run very efficiently and made the slopes accessible for anyone.

A solid ski hotel in Sestriere with good food, friendly staff, modern rooms and easy slope access by shuttle.
