We had a fantastic skiing holiday hotel and staff excellent the location to the slopes is brilliant and the views are fantastic only negative you should not have to pay for water with your evening meals,rooms clean and well furnished but could do with a kettle,atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming would definitely recommend

Family ski holiday

We’ve just come back from a ski trip to Italy and unfortunately our experience at this hotel was quite disappointing.

The food was poor. Pancakes were cold, bowls were dirty, and drinks at dinner were charged extra. What made it worse was that the waiters did not inform us about the prices beforehand. When I accidentally spilled a drink, no one came to clean it up, which created a real trip hazard.

The pool area was also a huge let-down. I used the pool almost every day, and throughout the entire week there was a booger stuck to the pool ladder. I reported it to the lifeguard on Monday, but nothing was done, and it was still there every single day, including my last evening on Saturday. Honestly disgusting. The hot tub water was colder than the swimming pool, so no one could really sit in it. On top of that, the floors were extremely slippery and felt unsafe.

The room itself was very dusty. The TV remote was sticky, the walls were scuffed, and the room clearly needs some TLC. In the bathroom, the shower hose was damaged, and there was limescale, dirt and dust everywhere. 

There was a note on the desk saying that if you want your towels changed, you need to put them in the “tank”. 

Unfortunately, I did not see any tanks anywhere on the hotel grounds. That said, when I left the towels on the floor, they were changed anyway. 

The soundproofing was very poor and you could hear everything happening in the corridor.

The biggest positive is definitely the location. You can ski almost directly from the hotel and ski back to it, which is great. Having a ski rental on site and a heated ski storage room is also a huge plus.

Despite these advantages, I would not choose to stay here again.

Excellent location, let down by hygiene and maintenance

The hotel is awesome overall. The location and ease of access to the slopes are second to none. Pietro, who drives the shuttle, was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was also really good, with loads of food choices to serve all the tastes of our group.

The only negative was that there was no water or juice offered during dinner service and all had to be paid for additionally, even on half board basis. Kids were told off for refilling their 500ml water bottles during breakfast for the day's skiing, which was resolved by the restaurant manager quite quickly.

The rooms were very comfortable and were cleaned properly each morning. 

The Spa pools were both very cold, and with a winter visit, we were not able to enjoy this experience due to the temperature.

Great location and Beautiful Hotel with Friendly staff

We stayed over Christmas as part of a package with Crystal ski. Family of four, two older teenagers in two rooms. We all skied and the hotel is perfectly positioned for ski in and out off of a track from a blue run so great accessibility for a ski holiday. 
Our rooms were warm (a little too warm), spacious and comfortable and we each had a balcony with gorgeous views over the mountains for sunrise and sunset. Rooms were cleaned daily to a good standard and coffee in the rooms was restocked. The hotel has ski hire shop on site and a boot room with plenty of space and free lockers also on site so all in all perfect for a ski holiday. 
We had a half board option and the food was good and plentiful. One of our party is vegetarian and there were lots of options for that also. There were hot breakfast options and a large selection of fruits, breads, pastries etc also. Evenings were a buffet, again lots of options, all fresh and plentiful. 
The bar in an evening was cosy and spacious. Excellent selection of drinks as well as a coffee machine.
We used the spa facilities most days for which we hired the dressing gown and slippers at 12 euros each for the week. We did need to pre-book our entry time at reception in the morning and a couple of times we were unable to get our preferred time so tip is to book early in the day. 
Every member of the hotel team that we had contact with in the restaurant, bar, spa, reception etc was polite, professional and friendly. They all seemed to be working very hard but efficiently and care about the service they were offering. 
The hotel is a little out of town (about a 20-30 minute walk) down and then back up a hill. We ventured in to town in the evening a few times but it wasn't really worth the effort. There is a shuttle bus running from the hotel to ski lifts (for ski school) during the day and again I think in the evenings if required but we didn't use it. 
Sestriere as a town is a little underwhelming. It's mostly purpose built for skiing and it serves its purpose but that's the best that can be said. Good selection of shops for mountain activities and a few bars etc but not somewhere we wanted to browse or spend time. Happily we were quite content in the hotel, which I would have no hesitation in recommending.

Perfect hotel for a Christmas ski trip

We stayed in the hotel for a week over Christmas as part of a Crystal holidays ski package. We were half board with two rooms for our family of four.
The rooms were spacious enough and comfortable. The room temperature was really hot, even after we switched the radiators completely off. This made a nights sleep a little uncomfortable. Otherwise the room and en-suite were ideal. 
We found that all the staff throughout were all fantastic and friendly. We engaged on several occasions with the staff in reception, bar, restaurant, spa and hire. And we found all of them to be really helpful and friendly.
We had breakfast and dinner included as part of our stay. The setup was a buffet with whatever the main dish of the evening (meats, etc) dished up by chefs. The food was good and there was a good selection. 
Bar and reception were nice. We sat in the bar most nights and played games as a family and had a few drinks. Staff made us cocktails at various time. 
Spa was good. €12 per person for a robe and slippers which meant access to the pool and spa for the full duration of the stay. The pool was a decent size and the spa (jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and salt room) were nice and relaxing. We found the €12 worth it for access after a day of skiing.
Ski hire on site was also great. Good quality equipment, and helpful staff. Lockers accessed directly from outside made it easily accessible when finished at the end of the day skiing.
The location was great. The ski-in/ski-out was really useful and led us to the bottom of the Garnel ski lift. There was a shuttle bus til 7pm which took us to the town centre. If we were closer to town, we probably would have headed into town in the evenings. But it was a bit of a walk back up the hill. We were fine in the bar in the evenings anyway. But another night doing the same card games, we might have been a bit bored. 
All-in-all, the hotel and resort were great for our family which was mostly intermediate ski level.

Great hotel for family ski trip
