We first visited La Renardiere in 2003. We like to ski in a variety of places, so we don’t come to Samoens every year, but each time we do come (maybe 8-10 times in total) we stay here, including this year and last. Walking through the front door feels like we’ve been given a big warm hug. Estelle and Carine have been here since we first visited and always give us such a warm and friendly reception, and their colleagues are equally hospitable. It’s a very cosy and traditional building. The rooms are spacious and warm, with nice big comfortable beds. Kitchenettes have been modernised in recent years and have good quality electric hobs, microwave and dishwasher, together with coffee machine, and all the paraphernalia you need to self cater. (Big supermarket is a short drive away, or multiple shops a 10 minute walk into town). A room the size of our room for two here would be marketed for 4 or even 6 in places like the 3 Valleys, or Tignes/Val d’Isere. The swimming pool is rarely busy, and is a great place for an apres ski stretch followed by a jacuzzi. If you want you can book use of the sauna, and a visiting massage service is available. 

We will return. Maybe next year, maybe the year after, but Renardiere has our hearts; a true home from home.

Home from Home.

We visited La Renardiere for 3 days. Shared apartment...1 bathroom.....1 single bed and a double bed, which was fine for our party of 3. Nice kitchen...perfect for what we needed. Coffee machine and 3 filters provided.  We stocked up with coffee and milk from casino in town. Balcony with nice views too. We booked breakfast for first morning as we arrived late previous night. €14 per person!!!!!!! Way too expensive for what is served. 1 croissant each 1 yoghurt, 1 baguette to share and some jam. Fruits. With tea or coffee. They sell just croissants/pain au chocolate/ baguettes at the bar for €1.40 so some profit margin there!!!! Way cheaper to walk 6mins into town to patisserie...for fresh bread/croissant etc for a fraction of the price! Wasn't any snow low down so short bus journey on yellow L1 bus or Grey L5 bus, which takes you straight up to grand massif express gondola. Bus stop is 50 metre walk from hotel. Great resort...highly recommended!!!

Avoid breakfast!!!

Our apartment was nice, clean and well maintained with we had a great view on the mountains. Downstairs is a cosy bar with a fireplace where you can relax. The skibus stops in from of the house. The chalet is located in a quiet area and walking distance from the centre of Samoëns.

Great place and nice location

This chalet hotel surpassed our expectations for a week's holiday in July. Our apartment was big by French standards. It was beautifully clean and wanted for nothing. Everything had been thought through so well. We had two small dogs with us and there is a small extra charge for them. The indoor and outdoor pools were both in use and there is a lovely garden area for small children to play in.Breakfast is available if requested the night before. Most people preferred to order croissants/bread to eat on their own terraces, which was delivered to the hotel and available to be picked up from reception, whilst others were happy to walk the approx 7 mins in to Samoens and choose for themselves from the two bakeries. The instructions for the kitchen appliances were left where they would be easy to follow, as were the "house rules". Just sensible stuff that made people aware of others on holiday too. The staff were all charming and helpful and we would look forward very much to staying in this residence again. The TV has BBC channels  one and two. One small negative, the hairdryer isn't very powerful, so if you have long hair, take your own!

"Perfect spot for a summer holiday"

We stayed in one of the larger apartments for 4 people. We had a main room with large double bed, dining table and chairs and a small kitchen area. There was a separate twin room off the main room and a bathroom with bath and shower. There was plenty of wardrobe space in both rooms. There was also a large balcony with table and chairs. 
The room was always warm and there was plenty of hot water. The kitchen area was well equipped and adequate for making breakfast and quick meals. There was a great heated towel rail in the bathroom and a stand up clothes airer for drying out ski gloves and damp clothes, etc. 
Each apartment has its own ski locker in the basement which was really useful. 
The hotel has a small lounge with open fire and a bar area. This was nice to sit in after coming back from skiing and the free basic WiFi access worked well here. You also have the option to pay to upgrade the WiFi if you want. 
There are 2 swimming pools and a jacuzzi. The outdoor pool was closed as it was frozen at this time of year. The indoor pool was empty during the day but busy in the evening. 
Both the pool and lounge area close at 8pm. 
There is also a nice spa offering various massage and beauty treatments. Prices are on a par with UK salon prices. 
The hotel is right opposite the ski bus stop and a 5-10 minute walk into the village, so the location is excellent. The surrounding scenery is stunning. 
The staff were friendly and spoke good English. They even helped make restaurant bookings for me. 
As with many holiday rentals, the hotel charges a separate cleaning fee for the room.  (€40 for a four bed room) You do have the option of cleaning the room yourself, as cleaning materials are available for use, but I was on my holidays so cleaning was the last thing I wanted to do. 
Samoëns is a pretty village with great skiing and amenities. We would definitely go back again and stay in La Renardiere.
