Just writing this review as I really struggled to find a recent one when booking. We came Stöten Mitt apartments with Crystal ski from Gatwick for new year’s week. It took about an hour to get through passport control at Scandinavian mountains airport and a while on the way back too but all the staff were really friendly and helpful. The coach was only 20minutes there which was perfect. 
I wasn’t expecting much in terms of the accommodation as it was described as basic but the apartment itself self was fine and had nice luxuries like a drying cupboard, tv, dvd player, proper oven, freezer and boot dryer. Each apartment has its own ski cupboard on the 1st floor where there is also a place to wax skis. The apartments did look slightly dated, the lift was broken all week (not ideal with two small children and lots of luggage), and was a bit noisy, but overall it’s well equipped and only 3 minutes walk from the piste. We were very lucky and managed to get keys from reception straight away when we checked in about 2pm but other people still hadn’t been given keys by 5.30pm!
There are 3 or 4 ski hire shops in the resort. We used the Kaiser one directly across from the apartment. It was fine and I understand slightly cheaper than booking with crystal. 
We bought lift passes from crystal as part of the package. I booked ski lessons for the children on Stöten’s website a couple of months before we went. I was glad I did this as I managed to get the last couple of slots and one party, who had prebooked lessons through crystal, had children booked in lessons at different times which they would not change! In hindsight I should have booked them into two lessons a day as they are only 90minutes long. The children enjoyed their ski lessons and the teachers all seemed kind and helpful. The lift staff were also very helpful and personable.
The resort is described as “snow sure”. There wasn’t much snow the first half of the week but they did have a lot of snow canons going. Post snow, in the second half of the week, it was very disappointing that only about 20% of the runs were open even though there was plenty of snow. They also only had one magic carpet open (meant for ski school only) despite plenty of snow. I get the impression they are understaffed in terms of piste preparation and maintenance. In my opinion all the pistes should have been open post snow. 
I was disappointed with the slowness, staffing and food in the eateries so we just bought food from the small shop about 5 minutes walk away which is open 8am-8pm. It had a reasonable selection for the week and fresh bread every morning. There is no government liquor store in the resort so you can’t buy alcohol, except in 3.5% beer in the shop and the normal selection in restaurants. 
Overall it is a nice resort for little ones to learn to ski but now they can ski, we will probably go elsewhere next year.

Fine for beginners skiing

We had a great time in Stöten. The skiing was superb and all the staff we came into contact with were always very friendly and helpful. My Sons ski instructor was fantastic and and had him zooming down the slopes by day three from a complete beginner.  The slopes are extremely well maintained. Stoten is a single resort but was perfect for us and we would definitely visit again.

Clean rooms, nice bahtrooms. They are basic but have everything you might need.

Do not visit in december, there is no snow and no sunny days in december 

The snow guaranty is a joke! They promise to have at least 3 pistes open, they have 6 out of 36, good, but I promise you the lifts are in the worst conditions I have ever tried before!!! To compensated, at least they will return only 20% of the price on the lift passes. I am bad at math, but 6 is not 80% of 36, right? On top of this during Tuesday there was a failure, that lasted about an hour, at the pace where the ski schools take place, kids and other people could not go uphill but just walking and who is going to compensate for all that time lost? 

And the cherry on the cake, the ice all around the main square, right out of the restaurants, hotel reception, ski shop, main lift, etc. This was first a lake and turn it to ice, this was so dangerous.

Maybe is better to try this place in januar or februar. It's worth to try but not in December

Where should I start? This year we decided to celebrate Xmas at Stöten and stay at Stöten mitt because of the near location to the children's ski schools and then we could avoid the stress of driving around, 4 days before our arriving we received an email saying that they had moved the ski schools to another place, that let us no time to change our booking and maybe be able to stay closer to the schools. Our first option was actually to rent a cabin 2 km away from the lifts, bigger, nicer and newer but we changed our mind and we chose a "delux" apartment, with only 34 m2, that doesn't look delux at all :-(
At our arriving we got just 1 key to our flat, the shower doesn't have hot water right away, instead you need to have the water full running for at least 5 minutes before the water gets hot. The illumination in the flat feels like being at a funeral, so low you need to have everything on to be able to find something. There is a sign in the flat that says that it supposed to be a manual to use the TV and connect the Apple TV, we have no manual and the receptions say that they have no extra ones.

Last Tuesday a woman came in to the hotel reception with a stroller to ask if they were planing to do something about it, the receptionist said they were going to put sand or salt to solve the problem. Today, at 10 am more less, I went in to ask for the same and the receptionist answered exactly the same. At 12:30 my kid felt, hitting his head on the ice (because there is not really a single place without ice that you can walk through to get to the snow) and I went to the reception again and the girl there just said yes we know, we are very sorry. Is that it???
So sad I decided to celebrate my 40 years old B-day here :-( 
It has been a dream of mine to celebrate Xmas with a ski trip since I moved to Sweden for 12 years ago. We chose Stöten because we were here last year for the first time and we were very very pleased. The years before (every year since 2004) we had been at Hundfjälet, Lindvallen, Tandådalen and we never had a single complaint. Now I regret we didn't choose one of them :-(
I don't have to forget to point the positive side, the people at the lifts and the people taking care of the kids are amazing. Not to mention that the instructors of the ski schools are the bests :-)
