Hôtel Le Refuge

Tignes

We stayed at Le Levanna for a week in March 2026, and loved every moment of our stay. We found the hotel easily (right next to the ski school area) and settled in quickly.
The room was ground floor and was perfect - very comfy bed, fridge, safe, tea and coffee - and with a spectacular view of the mountains from the balcony.
The hotel reception staff were brilliant and they handled all our questions, including helping us find our ski hire location, and finding us deckchairs to sunbathe on our balcony.
We stayed half-board and the experience was ideal. A breakfast buffet for a speedy bite to eat before hitting the slopes, and an a la carte dinner. The wine choices were brilliant, and the food choices were varied and high standard. The raclette for 2 was a particular favourite for us. The restaurant staff were fantastic, very friendly and polite. We got drinks in the bar on a couple of evenings too.
The wellness area is great for a relax after a morning on the slopes. The jacuzzi pool and steam room were both very welcome.
The hotel is very close to shops and bars , including a Spar supermarket for stocking up on supplies. It is also right next to the drop-off stop for the free Tignes bus, which runs throughout the day and evening, and which we found very handy. 
In summary, we had an excellent time at Le Levanna and would happily stay there again.

A great hotel for a trip to Tignes

Firstly the location, credit where credit is due, but that’s it I’m afraid.

Travelled as family of four and booked months ago.  Despite correctly booking 2 adults and 2 teenagers through booking.com and confirming twice, the hotel tried robustly to charge EUR200 extra for breakfast for our daughters.  Writing strong rebuttal emails is not our idea of fun when on holiday but alas this was required.  Agreement reached to no extra charge but no apology, no reply to email. Very very poor.

Now the other points:
Dirty, dilapidated hotel.  We did not want to touch any surfaces and did a lot of hand washing.  Dirty, horrible carpets in room and throughout hotel.

Poor decoration (see photos), peeling paint etc.

Disgusting smells through different areas of hotel.  Day 3 drains started kicking up a disgusting rotten vegetable smell in our daughters’ room which continued until we left.  Same smell on -2 level.  Bootroom absolutely disgusting stink! 

Light that flickered on and off in bedroom due to other guests pressing light switch on main corridor! How does that work? 

Staff in the bar extremely brusque and rude.  For example, waitress rolled her eyes at mere request for glasses to enable us to drink the water ordered!  Credit card machine plonked on table directly in the middle of a game of cards disrupting the game! Constant requests for payment when clearly staff told to assign drinks to room account.  Could not be more unhelpful.

Waitress tipped drinks down our daughter’s back which is an accident, and accidents happen. In fairness, we were not charged for that round.

This hotel may well say in response to this that we did not complain during our stay.  Reason being is that the solution to our complaint is - close the hotel, completely refurbish and redecorate.  Recruit and properly train new staff.  All of which is not fixed in one day.

Left 1 day early, and wow it felt good seeing this hotel in the rear view mirror. Never again.

Informed reception of our early departure yet no question of if everything ok or reason for early departure which I think is a par question. However maybe this sums up the lack of staff interest in the place.

All in all, dirty, smelly, horrible place to stay.  Honestly the worst ski hotel we have stayed at in many many years. 

Top Tip …… just don’t go near it.
