The hotel itself is fine, although 'dated', however the manager and staff were to say the least, unfriendly! From the moment we arrived we felt like we were an inconvenience. We were charged for a key that had twisted in a lock (no apology for giving us a key that had seen better days) To add insult to injury, one of our group fell ill and was sick on a blanket. No sympathy from the hosts but a charge for having to launder the blanket! If you do stay, take pictures when you arrive and count everything in the room because she will be checking before you get out of the door.

I stayed at Hotel Rosa Serenella when I recently visited Bardonecchia with a group of friends for a ski trip. The hotel is located a ten-minute walk from the ski slopes (or from the bus stop that takes you up to the Jafferau area of the region). I would recommend leaving your skis and boots in the lockers or ski shop so you don't have to lug them back and forth each day - the walk would take longer than ten minutes in ski boots! The rooms at the hotel are just what you need - providing a hot shower and comfy bed (although the single beds are small!) And the staff are very friendly - and very happy to teach guests a bit of Italian! Breakfast at Hotel Rosa (served between 8 and 9:30am) was a little disappointing - there seemed to be no hot option such as egg or waffle, and the cheese and ham levels were often low. But there was plenty of cereal, bread (and jams), cake (strange for breakfast) and coffee. Having said that, on the morning we were up early, the breakfast seemed better - so I'd recommend going to breakfast earlier rather than later. The wifi at the hotel works well, but is patchy in the bedrooms (but this is made clear by the owners). Our group ate at the hotel one evening and were pleasantly surprised at how nice the food was. I had the tagliolini and smoked salmon and would highly recommend it! Overall, this hotel is a good spot for a ski holiday with good friends.
