I LOVED the Dolomites! I LOVED Castelrotto! I LOVED our accommodations at Hotel al Lupo! I LOVED our view from our balcony! We stayed there for three nights. Our room was gigantic with such a cozy German alpine décor. It was central to the sights in Castelrotto and just steps away from the buses that brought us to and from Bolzano. The atmosphere was very classy and our breakfast buffet was all we could ask for and then some. Even though there was a bit of language barrier with the staff speaking bilingually Italian and German and us speaking English they were able to answer our various questions. We were given discounts for meals at three restaurants in the area. Thank you staff at Hotel al Lupo for making our Castelrotto/Dolomite experience such a wonderful memory!

I LOVED our accommodations at Hotel al Lupo!!

The location cannot be beat as this place (also known as the Hotel Zum Wolf) is located directly in the center of the shopping area of Castelrotto/Kastelruth.  You literally step out of the front entrance and you're in the middle of the cute little commercial area with shops, restaurants, bank, etc.  The included breakfast here was excellent with a very large choice of items - warm and cold - and they will pack a lunch for you if you're leaving the area for the day to hike or adventure.  The rooms themselves were fairly sparse, but you're really not going to be hanging out in the room much since outside is some of the most beautiful scenery you will find anywhere.  Make sure you understand the parking directions as that can initially be very confusing; but, after your first parking it will all make perfect sense.  The downside here is that there is no air conditioning (at least not in our room) because they typically wouldn't need that in the alpine area.  But, with climate warming or whatever is happening in the world these days it can be much warmer here than is typical and at least for us pampered Americans it would have been very beneficial to have some air conditioning or at least good quality fans.  If you initially find that they are sold out (which is common) keep trying as we got in within 24 hours of our arrival because there were other reservations that didn't show up.  The cost is not inexpensive, but for the location you'd expect the price.  If I return to this area again I would certainly consider lodging here again.

The hotel ,,Zum Wolf" is a historical place in the centre of the village Kastelruth in South Tyrol. You will pass your holidays near the Dolomites, which are meant as UNESCO World Nature Heritage. The southtyrolean mountains offer the best possibility for every kind of sport. We promise You that You won't regret this holiday experience. A big breakfast buffet is waiting for You every morning, to charge Your energy for the whole day. The breakfast constist of many differtent types of food. We are very proud to announce that there is also a biolounge, a patisserie, a coffee- and teabar. The hotel offers at least a bar with an open chimney. The rooms are all very comforable. In everyone is a en suite bathroom with a shower, a telephone, a televisor with satellite reception, a safe, a balcony with a stunning view, a minibar and a tiled stove available. We are looking forward to see You at our hotel!
