We didn't believe the reviews, but we do now. The food was 1970's microwaved and thrown on a plate. The service was amazingly slow and the coffee was warm.  The raspberry sorbet was good though. I will not eat here again.

We found this hotel to be traditional, friendly, economical and the staff helpful. It seemed very family friendly with a table of drawing stuff for kids in the dining room. We were able to have continental breakfasts and evening meals if desired-we stayed across the road in the annex and our room for 3 was very adequate-the bathroom was good and plenty of wardrobes and quiet with a balcony. there was good provision for storage of skis and boots too. The Wifi was free and mainly available in the lobby area although we had some connectivity in our room too. Abondance is a traditional village and a little way out of the main portes du soleil ski area-it has a small ski area of its own. It is best to have your own car so you can pick up the gondola at chapelle abondance-there is a coach service 'columbus' which is often late and coaches are not that frequent-they are cheap 1 euro 50 and will take you as far as chatel or linga (30-40 minute ride)-the timetable needs to be understood carefully as coaches are less frequent at weekend (NB TLJ-means every day)-and on sunday the village centre shuts for its lovely market so the coach is taken on the main road a short walk. We found some fabulous little restaurants in Abondance. We tried 4 altogether. Best to book the day before as they fill up. Very nice deli which sells plentiful picnic supplies. Magic transfers will deliver you cheaply from Geneva airport to the door if you don't have a car-We had a blast as 3 very keen skiers.

Living inside the family. Hotel is stuck in the seventees. Terrible beds. Don't speak english at all. Food is not good. Breakfast very simple and not 8 euro worth. Servie is amateuristic. I would not recommend this hotel! The location is good but only for sking in this area. Bad connection with Port the Soleil.

This hotel is in a quaint little village, it's quite quiet, but very French, so if you want to experience a traditional French holiday, it's perfect.

The family of the hotel are extremely friendly, and although cannot speak much English, we managed to communicate just fine. They will do anything to assist you.

Jean-Luc is a very kind man, and a wonderful chef, we ate in the restaurant of the hotel 3 nights out of 5 and the food is delicious and great value! The Bertoud was a new experience and absolutely delicious. 

The rooms are basic, but very cosy and warm, however I would recommend a room in the main hotel rather than the annex as the river can be quite noisy at night. 

I went on this trip as a beginner skier/snowboarder and the resort was very quiet, so perfect for me to learn, however we did miss the atmosphere in the evenings. But, you can jump on a bus to Chatel where it's more lively.

If you are a family with young children, this hotel would be perfect, cheap and cheerful, very clean with friendly owners and lovely food.
