Stayed at the Baer with a friend for a 2 week ski trip. I think we picked the perfect hotel!! Gorgeous small hotel, very comfortable room under the roof with a view, generous breakfast and very conveniently located to the Gemsstock cable car. The other gondola is only a 5 min free bus ride away, but everything in this little town is walkable. The staff is very friendly and helpful and when we treated ourselves to a special dinner at the restaurant the service and food was amongst the best I've had in a while. It saddens me that there is so much highrise and ritzy hotel development in the far side of town, I think it completely ruins the place and would not be caught dead staying at the (ehem...) Schiddy (Chedi) or similar... If I'm ever back, which I sincerely hope to be, this will be my number one choice!

Swiss Mountain Town Perfection

We stayed here for a couple of nights out of season, and were the only guests.  The rooms and public areas are very stylish, and the young staff friendly and efficient.

Breakfast was OK, and I expect it would be better in season, as it is difficult to cater for just one couple ( as we know as ex hoteliers ourselves).

 In a town dominated by two big chain hotels, this is a very good alternative, with modern stylish rooms in a beautiful old building.

I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed in Andermatt for one night on our way to Zermatt from St.Moritz. It's a lovely small village which unfortunately is current under extensive development. The hotel ws in the old part of the illage, in traditional style with a restaurant. The room was in traditional style, clean and with a comfortable double bed. The breakfast buffet was fine and the service couldn't be faulted.

My girlfriend and I went to the restaurant here for dinner one evening. They started us with bread and a very nice butter mixed with herbs. The food was very delicious. The atmosphere is where the restaurant lacked. For it being a very posh restaurant it was really lacking and didn’t feel like a very posh area. The lighting was nice but I think the rest of the decorations and everything could use some work. The food was a little pricey but it was worth the price.

We only went for the restaurant. Great food, a little pricey and the atmosphere is lacking but worth the visit.

Montabaur, Rhineland-Palatinate

This Hotel / Restaurant is in a great location and the room we had seemed newly renovated and was lovely, cozy and very clean. Unfortunately, our room was quite noisy late at night, especially after closure of the restaurant, when they were tidying up. We had dinner in the restaurant one evening and the food was delicious. The breakfast is standard. Unfortunately, the service lets this establishment down a little. Whilst everyone was friendly, there is no reception as such and no information given on the hotel. There is no ski room as such, but nobody told us, that skis can be put in a laundry room. The parking space is a short walk away but there was heavy snowfall when we were there and it was not snow cleared. By the time we left, it was an ice rink! The safe in our room did not work. When I asked a member of staff I was told they would not be replaced until the summer and I had to figure out myself what to do with my valuables. To summarise, had we made to feel more welcome and been looked after better, I would have easily given this a 5Star review.
