Grand Hotel Miramonti

Passo Tonale

I stayed at the Miramonti for a week with Crystal Ski from 24-31st Jan 2026, as it was one of the few hotels that would take solo travellers, so thanks a lot for having me!  

I must admit I really enjoyed my stay there.  It is quite a large hotel and the room fittings are rather dated, but they are solid old wood, hence they have lasted well and are still fully functional, so I had no complaints.  If you like TV, the screen was tiny, but I don't watch it, so I wasn't bothered.  My room was big, spotlessly clean, had plenty of nice towels, a desk section so I could do a bit of work each evening and was always warm to the extent I needed the window open much of the time.  I also had a nice view over to the west of the resort.  My only issue was the shower, which was terrible the first day, veering between boiling hot and freezing cold every few seconds and virtually no flow pressure.  I told reception and they fixed the thermostat by day 2.  After being informed about the pressure again, that too was fixed by day 3, so I had a great shower after that and was grateful because I was skiing 43-60 miles per day and needed it!

There was some noise travelling between rooms and quite noisy bar/disco outside some nights, but nothing problematic.

This is a genuine Italian Hotel and was patronised by Italian families, not full of Brits, which was fine by me.

As a vegetarian, I did struggle with the menu, as most dishes were meat or fish and I couldn't eat a main course all week.  However, the maitre D was a lovely guy and came to see me each dinner.  We went over the menu and he arranged to deliver to me the menu courses I could eat and sometimes supplemented it with another additional thing, like a spinach burger or caprese salad.  I never went hungry at all.  As usual in Italy, there was a cold buffet to start, which was fine while I was there, but might get very busy when the hotel is full.  There was a lot of choice and enough variety for a vegetarian. Breakfast was also fine, my only issue being that the hot choices were the same all week and meat-based; something like grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans or fried potatoes would have made a change, but I was limited to cereal, fruit and bread, which was very nice.  I liked that they had 4 types of seeds to sprinkle on fruit or cereals. 

Reception staff were always lovely and helpful and one of the ladies sang (very well) before dinner at a piano each evening.

There is a nice spa and pool area that I explored but I didn't use it.

The boot room is down a flight of stone steps, which might be an issue for some, but was fine with me.  It was clean, a sensible temperature and roomy, with good boot airers and seating space for getting boots on and off.

Access to the slopes is a big plus, as it is literally a  minute or two to cross the road, walk across a small car park and up a slight bank to two lifts of the main ski area (Alpe Alta and Vittoria chair lifts). These are good warm up runs and also give access to the entire resort by skiing across the slopes.

When I'm skiing, I want good food, a hot shower, a nice bed, a comfortable room and friendly staff looking after me.  Overall, those boxes were all ticked, so I was very happy and relaxed at the Miramonti, which felt like a home away from home.  In fact, over a week after getting home I still miss it!  I  had a lovely week of hardcore skiing in Passo Tonale and even got to see the Olympic torch pass through on Friday of my stay.  Thanks everyone.  It is always a relief when a pricy package holiday works out well and a big part of that is the accommodation.
