Hotel Banchetta

Sestriere

This is a lovely, traditional, family-run hotel.  The hotel is in the Borgata area of Sestriere, so outside of the main resort, but within 5 minutes walk of four chair lifts, so fab access to all the ski areas, and the skiing is amazing.  You can walk into Sestriere but it is about 40 minutes, but there is a bus and if you have a car, it's a 5-minute drive.  As others have said, there is not much in Borgata in the evenings, but we found the hotel bar and dinner-service enough for most of our evenings, although we did venture out a couple of times (by car).  There is car parking outside the hotel, on the forecourt, or you can park in the huge (free) car park over the road.
As a family, we had a double room and a single room (although the single was allocated a double also).  The rooms were clean and traditionally furnished, clean and crisp white cotton bedding, plenty of fresh towels and toiletries, and a hairdryer.  We also had a sofa and writing desk area in our room (8), and access onto a shared balcony (across the front of the hotel).  The mattresses were a little firm, but that depends on your preference.  Plenty of hot water, morning and night, and we found the rooms warm, so much so that we slept with our window open (even having turned the radiator down).
We stayed for two weeks and found the food to be lovely.  They serve a traditional Italian menu, every night there is an appetiser, followed by a choice of two starters, followed by a choice of two mains, followed by a choice of two desserts.  I am a very fussy eater, and there was something I enjoyed every night.  There is also a good wine list, including house wine which you can have by the carafe (full, half, quarter), plus a well stocked bar serving alcoholic and soft drinks, cocktails and coffee.  Breakfast is a cold buffet, cereals, boiled eggs, meats, cheeses, cake, bread (toaster), yoghurt, fruit, and juices/tea/coffee.  You can pay extra for a hot cooked breakfast, if you wish.  The waiting staff in the restaurant are lovely and so very attentive.
There is a nice bar that you can sit in at any time, and is nice before dinner for a pre-dinner drink (served with complementary snacks), playing games and fussing the lovely little dog, Lucy.  The family are very helpful and accommodating...nothing is too much trouble.
We used the sauna area one evening, which was small but nice, and lovely after a day skiing.  Unfortunately the jacuzzi is out of action (appears to have been for a long time).  
The only small gripe I would have is with the ski store boot-room, as there is not a heated drying area for boots.  It was not a problem for us in March, but I could imagine it being difficult to get your boots dry in the colder/damper months.  Having said that, many other residents kept their boots and skis at the ski-locker next to the chair lifts (ski-school), for a small charge.
Would I recommend this hotel?  Definitely Yes.  Would I go back again?  Absolutely!!!

Fab Family Run Hotel - Great Value for Money!

Banchetta is a traditional hotel in the hamlet of Borgata. The hotel therefore doesn’t have the amenities you’d expect from a modern hotel. No lift. Hot tub was out of action The family who run it are charming and helpful, especially when booking the intermittent bus that can take you to the more lively Siestriere. Not a lot in Borgata, short walk to lifts. The food imo wasn’t the best but food is fuel!! Adding hot food to breakfast would make a difference and believe this was possible at a price. Rooms were satisfactory albeit thin walls.

Hotel Banchetta in the Hamlet of Borgata

Great little hotel in quiet tiny village. Owners were charming and super helpful. Other staff were very nice too. Two lovely, friendly dogs living in the hotel too. 5 minutes easy walk up slight hill to nearest ski lift but we could ski almost back. Breakfasts were good, plenty of food (continental style). Evening meals were mostly good, we could generally choose between two options the night before. There would generally be a starter, then a pasta or rice dish, then meat or fish then pudding. The vegetarian options were a bit limited but we didn’t go hungry. Ski storage area in basement was fine. The sauna was an additional cost and the jacuzzi out of order the week we were there. The bar area was very nice and convivial. You can get a bus up to Sestriere (cost €1.70pp) but it’s only every two hours or so and you have to call to arrange it, so it’s a bit limiting if you want to go out in the evening. Sestriere itself was ok, only one small supermarket which was often closed 12-4 so stock up on snacks in advance. Skiing was excellent, and lift queues even in half term were much less than we have experienced in France.

Great little hotel in quiet area

The rooms are fine, I had a twin to myself but a couple might struggle as they aren't the biggest rooms. Bed was very comfortable and rooms clean.  I've never had my bin emptied twice a day, seems a little unnecessary.  The hotel wasn't the warmest, especially in the bar.
Please make sure you take the appropriate italy compatible plug 🔌 (3 pins, narrow), the sockets do not fit standard European plugs!!! 
The staff were excellent and friendly, the 2 dogs are adorable. 
The only issues I had:
1.  Bootroom is not heated so boots were still wet in the morning (left mine in the ski shop up the road €20 for the week, they also do a great ski service for €23).
2.  The hot water ... was not hot for the last 2 days of my week .. I suspect the very low temperature reaked havoc with the boiler.
3.  It's an older hotel, walls are very thin and you can hear the people next door .. take ear plugs if noise bothers you.
4.  The food is awful, unseasoned, bland, unappetising, the frozen chips were raw, the vegetarian food had meat in it ... the 2 waiters appeared embarrassed to be serving it as it was so bad and apologised profusely.  I'm not a fussy eater  ... but they definitely need a new chef.  
5. Breakfast on the day of departure  .. 2 packs of dry rusks, an apple, carton of high sugar juice and a little pack of biscuits ... it was really poor.  
Given that there is only a tiny shop selling very basic stuff in Borgata, one bar that closes early ... if you want to escape from the terrible food, you need to get a taxi to Sestriere or eat up the mountain where the restaurants do great food.
