Passo Tonale

This was our second visit to Passo Tonale and Hotel Savoia and won’t be the last! 
Visited last year in a large group of friends and enjoyed it so much we decided to return as a couple this year. 

The hotel itself has a very traditional alpine feel and is very homely, warm and clean. Rooms are cosy and comfortable. The location is perfect right in the middle of town and only have to cross the road to get to the slopes / ski school meeting point.

The breakfast is a continental style buffet and three course dinner with a salad/ starter buffet which was delicious. I’m vegetarian and was always catered for with several different options. The bar and restaurant staff are brilliant and really look after you, as well as the family and other staff who run the hotel. The hotel bar is also very reasonably priced. Molly the hotel dog is also an added bonus ☺️
 
Passo tonale itself has a great range of slopes for all skiing abilities and a real alpine charm, we still had great snow conditions and lots of sunny days in mid- late March. There are lots of restaurants/ bars with a more laid back apres, as well as a few more lively ones.

Overall, if you’re looking for a cosy, family- run hotel that’s practically ski in ski out with lovely food and staff, then I would highly recommend! We will be back :)

Ski trip March 2026

Had an excellent time at this lovely hotel. Perfectly located for ski school it is just a short walk across the road. Friendly from the moment I arrived the staff were attentive and helpful throughout. Food was excellent with dinner pre-ordered the night before. Buffet starter/side salad, pasta primi course and then a meat/fish/veg main course then a desert or fruit. Breakfast was buffet style continental with a toaster that actually worked. Went to another resort on the Thursday and they happily provided an early start to breakfast. Wine was lovely and very well priced. Room was big enough and quiet. Lovely stay made special by the lovely staff.

We recently stayed at this hotel and had a great time, the hotel itself is a little dated but it is immaculately clean and the staff were excellent, friendly and very helpful. Reception staff were always happy and lent a sewing kit for some ripped trousers. Waiting and bar staff again could not fault their customer service and were always happy and eager to help.

I would take all of these, good customer service and cleanliness, over newer interiors. And to be clear whilst dated it was all in good repair.

 Access to the ski lifts is the best we've had and short of ski in / out I don't think you could get closer, the boot room is large and has heated racks for boots and skis.

I would happily give the hotel 5 stars, but unfortunately the food wasn't as good as the other aspects of the hotel, some meals were great others not so much. Breakfasts were a continental style buffet so they were always fine. 

We would definitely stay here again without doubt, but would budget for eating out a couple of nights.

Excellent hotel, friendly staff and really close to ski lifts

Stayed here in February, in our group were 2 families each 2 adults 2 kids. We stayed for 1 week and booked via Crystal Ski. 

I'll start by saying we weren't expecting the world, given the price we paid for a family to ski half board in Italy, so we did go with the thought they some things might be less than we expected. 

We arrived relatively early on the Saturday, our rooms weren't ready so luggage was left in reception while we went to get our ski kit etc.

Location: the location of this hotel is excellent, right over the road from the slopes and specifically the ski school meet for the kids. You can easily walk everywhere in Passo Tonale from this hotel. Location was great.

Rooms: Rooms are dated but we had spacious rooms. What was annoying was the fact we had 2 twin rooms at OPPOSITE ends of the corridor. Considering we were a family booked under 1 name (2 adults/2kids) this was disappointing. I did ask the hotel staff about this but they weren't very helpful and didn't move us. The rooms were spacious and both had nice views. The beds were not very comfortable, and there was not a lot of space for drying damp ski clothes. Bathroom was big and the water was warm for a shower. Average rooms but did the job for 1 week. 

Food: We struggled a lot here with the kids!! Basically the night before you chose your menu for the following night. Always a choice of 3 starters 3 mains. As a veggie I usually had 1 option for each, but the meat eaters did also struggle to choose something appetising, there was always something to eat, but whether you fancied it or really enjoyed it was another thing. They did have a buffet style table with salads etc on, this was delicious! We ended up writing plain pasta x 4 on the menu each evening for the kids. I wouldn't recommend this hotel really if with kids. 

Facilities: Hotel restaurant and bar. Lounge area with comfy chairs and a fire. Ski storage room with heated boot holders.

Overall: As I mentioned we booked with Crystal Ski, advertised as a family friendly holiday, I would slightly disagree with this, there are zero facilities for the kids and when they did play hide and seek etc the staff often said for them to slow down or be quiet. Food was disappointing. Rooms were dated but spacious. The hotel bar was reasonably priced. 

Passo Tonale is good for families with young kids in ski schools. I personally wouldn't return to this hotel, nor would I recommend it.

Basic hotel, good location.

We have just come back from The Savoia hotel in Passo Tonale.

The hotels location is excellent and the staff are very good but the owners need some lessons in hospitality management. The owners are standoffish, seemed grumpy and at times rude however this might have been a bit to do with the language barrier. 

We stayed in room 124 which was tiny, and whilst we do not require a big room with our ski gear it meant literally tripping over things to get to the bathroom, it even had a desk and chair but it was so small you could not get the chair out!

Food for Italy was very disappointing (having stayed in other Italian ski resorts), evening meals had some very odd combinations, not much choice ether, for example one evening I had veal with tuna sauce...yes you read right!!  Breakfast was very basic however the croissants where delicious.

Hotel is tired and very dated, however with some significant investment, with its excellent location could be an excellent hotel.  

Skiing in Passo Tonale is very good, weather was 5 out of 6 bluebird days so perfect however feel sorry for those going soon as snow was melting fast.

Would i come back to Passo, yes, to this hotel, no.
