This could be five stars but only if you take the whole chalet as one group. The chalet is split into two - one sleeps 8 and one 10. As previous reviews have noted, the rooms are tiny - about 15-18inches between twin beds is the only non-bed floor space and the bed is directly across the bathroom door - you have to climb in. But the real problem is the noise from next door. You can hear every single word without any voices raised. We are two mums with 6 children aged 12-16 and trying to get to sleep around 10 - not in this chalet. Next door are 6 adults with out of control 1 and 3 year olds who live on a totally different timetable and are completely uninterested in taking care of their neighbours saying it’s a holiday and it’s a design flaw in the chalet. 

Well yes it is. Having spent thousands to have a special holiday this is the absolute worst. Do NOT take this chalet unless you are a compatible group taking the whole thing. Either your holiday will be ruined or you will ruin someone else’s. Life is too short - and skiing too expensive - to have your holiday spoiled by something like this.

Avoid - no soundproofing and horrendous neighbours can spoil your whole stay.

We came to stay as a family of couples w/c 4th feb and had the most amazing time at Chalet Elliot East. The chalet is perfectly located in La Tania and for an intermediate skier, ski in ski out. There’s a closed drag lift right outside the door where you can do a few turns down to the gondola, or ski down to from the home green run. If a beginner, you can walk a few meters down the private road, then turn left and find a walkway down to a public lift (not ski lift, actual up down lift) which takes you right down to the shops/restaurants/ski school. 

The chalet itself is a beautiful home from home with a lovely open space and log fire. There’s a tv where you can plug in a fire stick and also a speaker system. The rooms aren’t the biggest, although lovely and cosy and every room has an en-suite. There’s a ski room with heated boot rack and the most amazing jacuzzi which we could just about fit all 8 of us in - perfect end to a ski day. The East chalet has a slightly more private jacuzzi, and the West was more public - still quiet in the grand scheme of things though. 

We opted for the contactless catering and couldn’t believe the amount of food we had! Breakfast, afternoon tea, and a 3 course meal for all but 1 day (we probably didn’t need to eat out on our 1 evening off as we still had so much food left!). The food is all cooked and in trays which you just need to put in the oven for 15 mins or so, we got daily instruction texts which were really helpful. Food included beef, salmon, pork, duck, and a cheese fondue night and was all perfect. The unlimited wine was also very very good, and if you ever ran out of everything could text and usually get it the following morning. For breakfast there’s bacon, eggs, toast, baguette, jams, cereal etc. we did run out of bread one day but was able to make a 12 egg omelette with the fondue meat and cheese that was left over from the night before - you really will not go hungry. We were initially a little apprehensive about the washing up etc whilst on holiday, although with the dishwasher and sharing the cooking/cleaning it really didn’t seem like a problem at all! 

As for the resort it’s a lovely quaint place with beautiful views, it gets the sun from about 11ish and the Ski Lodge is a great place to go for some apres drinks or lunch in the sun. There’s also a Sherpa supermarket just behind the ski lodge pub. La Tania is much cheaper than the likes of Courchevel 1850 so a great spot to access the 3 valleys. 

For beginners, the green home run is quite difficult and I wouldn’t recommend it straight away. A good option is to take the gondola up, ski the green to the Bouc Blanc chair, and then take the green all the way into Courchevel where there’s even more lovely beginner greens. To get back, you can take the La Praz gondola down from 1850 to La Praz (this runs till 1130 ish at night), then the Foret chair back up, and ski through the tunnel and the La Tania gondola back down. This is much easier than the bus which we found to be very unreliable. 

For more advanced skiers, we could ski right over to Val Thorens and have a great day skiing everywhere from La Tania. 

The ski set shop in La Tania had really good equipment and the staff were very friendly. 

We did find the adult group ski school good, although would’ve liked to see more “school”, as it seemed to be more like a tour guide with not too many tips on technique etc. 

All in all we had the most amazing holiday and would definitely remember this spot to anyone! Thanks to all the team!

Amazing Stay!

Just driving home after a wonderful week in Chalet Elliot East. 

Thank you so much to Nick and Evie for looking after us so well, fantastic food from the made to order English breakfast, the superb cakes and three tasty courses in the evening. Canapés at seven too. They were very knowledgable about the area and recommendations for restaurants. We had a very snowy day and they suggested a bus ride (free) to Courchevel, a nice afternoon out. 

Access to the chalet is easy, just hop off the poma after the bridge and the chalet is right there. In a morning it’s a short walk to the lift down into town and the main bubble. 

Hot tub was lovely after a full days skiing and the robes were a nice touch. 

The best room is room 4 upstairs, it’s bigger than the others with a bath and bigger bathroom. 

The boot warmers should be on a timer, our hosts had enough to think about and we had chilly boots on two mornings. 

Nice sitting area and we even managed to watch the rugby. 

A wonderful week in a lovely chalet with excellent hosts. We will be back.

I Ski every year twice a year and this place is definitely one of my favourites. It literally takes a couple of minutes to get to the lift and  it’s in a great location. Neil and  Corinne  Who were looking after us did a fantastic job. They really did go up and beyond to make us feel welcome. They even came skiing with us one  of the days.  The hot tub was well worth having after a hard day skiing if anyone is booking this place you will not go wrong especially if Neil and Corinne are hosting you. Whoop whoop x

Chalet Elliot West is a chocolate-box chalet constructed in La Tania with reclaimed timber from an old, Russian farmhouse and lovingly rebuilt in the Alps. The chalet provides a premium catered service that coupled with an incredible warm ambiance makes it a magical place to spend your ski holidays. The ski lift is merely 200 m away and La Tania village centre is just a short walk from the chalet.
