TH La Thuile - Planibel Residence

Accommodation way too small for 2 adults and 2 teenage boys.  We understood there would be bunk beds but the boys are crammed onto folded out sofa bed. Not a proper mattress.  The dining table and chairs are at the end of their bed so we have had to stack them up in a corner just to give them a bit more room.  If you ask for a room suitable for 2 adults and 2 teenagers this should NOT be given as an option. Crystal ski should not even make it an option. 

Even the bathrooms are tiny. I'm not a large person but it's hard to negotiate the shower bath..everything is shoehorned in.

Rooms are clean and comfortable otherwise.

We have stayed here many times - it’s our favourite ski resort. Planibel Residences (the apartments) have been refurbished in the last few years (Monte Rosa) and they are absolutely lovely! Very well equipped, nicely furnished, warm and cosy, comfortable bed (needed after a day on the slopes), and fabulous bathrooms that have plenty of hot water. The WiFi is very good and reliable. The location is perfect if skiing as it’s a few minutes walk until you’re at the bottom of the gondola or chair lifts. Everything you need is very close by (lift pass and ski rental) and the on site pub (La Cages aux Folles) is a very relaxed pub/restaurant that has delicious food a great atmosphere and lovely staff. We will come back…again!

Arrived on an early flight and room was ready early which was great. Notified by the app which was very handy. 

Room - Very modern and alot better then places we have stayed in the past. 

Bathroom- Lovely modern nicely decorated bathrooms fully stocked with shampoo, shower gel and lotion. Nice suprise. Also 2 toilet paper in each bathroom. Hairdryer provided and works very well. Soap at the sink too!  

Kitchen - Small as expected, with 2 ring induction hob. A lovely suprise meal provided of pasta, sauce, onion, garlic and oil. Lovely touch. Would have quite liked a bit more dishes and bigger pans as there is no dishwasher you are constantly washing glasses and cups as you only get 4 of each.

Beds - we let the kids have the bedroom so they could go to bed early and we had the sofa bed in the living room which was surprisingly comfy. 

Large balcony, good for storing skis and although at first I thought we had access to the boot room, I realised I didnt miss the bedlam of the morning ski boot room. 

Shutter blinds can be noisy when you hear people opening them but nothing ear plugs wouldn't sort. 

Not ski in ski out but very close. 

Shop close by and a little takeaway/pizza place. 

Amazing childcare provided by Crystal ski. The girls are amazing with the kids and have made the holiday so much easier! 

Would have gave 5 star if there was a dishwasher :(

Great family skiing holiday!

This was our 3rd visit to the planibel. The first time about 8 years ago to the hotel which id rate a 3, then 3 years ago to the apts with our 3 kids and now again the five of us to the apts again. 
The big sell here is location and value. For a family of 5 it’s pretty much the best value option for a weeks package holiday skiing. And finding a 2 bed apt is extra difficult. The complex is right in front of the slopes and main gondola. So really hard to beat. And the apts were done up a few years ago. So they’re surprisingly modern inside, with 2 bathrooms, a decent double bedroom, a small single with bunks and a very small living room/kitchen. The latter being quite small, with the 5th bed being the sofa. Not a pullout bed or sofa bed, just the sofa itself. 
But the outside of complex is in bad shape. The apts exterior looks fairly dilapidated, as does the hotel section. And the courtyard area is covered in broken tiles.  The hotel bar is ok, but crazy busy. We didn’t use the pool this time, but we had similar experience as has been mentioned in other reviews
