We spent our winter holiday at Rechenau this February, with a group of friends. Everything was perfect: from the prior communication with the owners, to the check-out altogether. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful, the house is designed and decorated with good taste, everything is clean and well maintained. The wellness facility is a big plus, very relaxing after a day of skiing. Breakfast, although not the cheapest, is really a rich and varied one, with quality ingredients. Another big advantage is the short distance to the ski lift, where also a ski depot is available free of charge for hotel guests. All in all, a very pleasant experience, highly recommended.

Simply excellent!

Went with my girlfriend in January, we specifically booked via email a room with a balcony. Turned up after driving for 18 hours and no balcony. Horrendous customer service from the female owner- they tried to keep our deposit too but we insisted and left to find a new hotel.

If they had just apologised about the balcony, we would have stayed but genuinely appalled by their actions afterwards. So rude. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Terrible customer service

Well designed very clean apartments and amazing wellness area, very good breakfast. Quite location, 10 min walk to Giggijoch gondola and 15 min walk to the center. We preferred using of our car to rich Giggijoch, Gaislachkogel or Hochgurgl ski lifts.

RATE_LOCATION

We stayed in the large 3-bedroom apartment, which is of adequate size for 2 families (us: 4 adults, 5 kids in total, age range 4 to 8, stayed from 25-2-'17 till 4-3-'17). The kitchen area is on the small side, but has a nice balcony with a lovely view. All rooms have their own shower + toilet, which is a big plus. The apartment is not within walking distance from the ski lifts, grocery stores and restaurants/nightlife. They offer a bread service. There is on site ski storage. Ski storage near the lifts is only free of charge if the ski's are rented through the apartment's ski rental partner. 
So far: Size - price - location - comfort level: ok(-ish). 
However:
We had a couple of small run-ins/misunderstandings with the host over the ski-storage, a misplaced key, a spilled egg, and the unfortunate event of one of our kids wetting the bed. 
This had obviously led to some frustration on her part, which resulted in the following happening on our morning of departure:
At 5:30 the host stormed (honestly this literally happened!) into the apartment and, as it turned out, falsely accused us of taking too much bread from the bread box downstairs. After being told she was wrong, she then started maniacally taking out the trash, and ended up taking the bread, that was in similar plastic bags as some of the trash, that we paid for and was supposed to serve as breakfast on our long trip back, with her, together with the trash. 
During all this she also accused us of leaving the apartment behind improperly cleaned, while at the time of the accusation we were nowhere near ready to leave, and were at the time of her entry in the process of cleaning. 

What's worse, during all this, we repeatedly asked her to leave, but she failed to do so. 
At that point she basically was in violation of our domestic privacy; there was no emergency, we were not causing a disturbance, she simply had no business being in the apartment. What she should have done was: ring the bell, or knock on the door, stay at the doorstep, clearly state the purpose of her visit, and ask if she could come in to check to amount of bread we took. The apartment, that at that time was paid for in full, was ours till check out time, she simply had no right to be inside without our clear consent. But to the contrary, she failed to leave, caused a scene, disturbed our children who were just waking up, in the proces causing a very uncomfortable and threatening situation for them. 

Finally, upon ringing the bell at reception to get our bread back (we only later, after she finally did leave, found out that she had taken the bread), she failed to answer the reception bell.

We have travelled quit a bit, but can honestly say, that we have never ever experience something that comes even close to this. BE WARNED!

Disclaimer: There are always two sides to a story. We filed a formal complaint with the host over the above, but have yet to receive a reply.
