Booked the room on the basis that  there was a sofa bed as described as we are 2 friends on a skiing trip  and did not want to sleep in a double bed together . 
On arrival we were shocked to se that this was a small sofa that did not pull out to make a bed . After speaking to reception they were not interested and still were adamant this was a sofa bed .  We Payed the expensive  room rate leaving tired and will never return . 
You have been warned as there discription of the hotel etc is misleading

We stayed in December for four nights, and honestly, Straubinger Grand Hotel exceeded our expectations in every way.

The renovation is beautifully done — you can feel the respect for the building’s history, but everything is fresh, elegant, and thoughtfully finished. It’s rare to see such an iconic hotel brought back to life without losing its soul, and Straubinger absolutely gets this balance right.

We were welcomed warmly at reception, given a tour of the hotel, and made to feel genuinely at home. This level of care continued throughout our stay , from the front desk to the restaurant and breakfast team, everyone was attentive, professional, and truly kind.

We stayed in a junior suite with a panoramic view, and it was a highlight on its own. Waking up to the view over Bad Gastein and hearing the waterfall was peaceful, atmospheric, and unforgettable.

What made the stay even more meaningful was seeing Bad Gastein slowly coming back to life. The renovation of buildings like Straubinger gives the town new energy while honoring its history, and it’s wonderful to witness this transformation firsthand.

We would absolutely return and highly recommend this hotel to anyone who appreciates thoughtful design, impeccable service, and places with real character.

Absolutely fell in love with this charming hotel, so much so that we returned 2 days after check out, foregoing the other hotel we had booked. We hope to return in February, Thank you for a marvellous stay and to the staff for being exceptional.

I have travelled to many places throughout the world and stayed in many hotels that consider themselves first class. 

However; this hotel delivers everything you could wish for. From the stylish rooms, the excellent and very warm service from all staff, to the sheer excellence of the cuisine. 

This hotel caters very well for those who wish to feel looked after, where nothing is too much trouble. We opted for half board in a Junior Suite with panoramic views and nothing disappointed us. The room was elegant, spacious (high ceiling too) and exceptionally clean and well thought out. 

The dining experience for half board includes 4 courses of what can only be described as Michelin quality. Food was paired to create an experience of flavour and has genuinely been some of the best meals I have eaten. 

This hotel offers excellent value considering the quality that is delivered to guests. Clearly this hotel is well managed with staff who are a pleasure to meet. 

This hotel is a real gem to be discovered.
