A truly wonderful family run hotel. Very friendly and helpful owners and staff. A great location walking distance from the train station and city centre as well as the Zugspitz train. Very clean, extremely comfortable room and a great breakfast. Our room had a balcony and the new years eve fireworks were a delight. Highly recommended!

Our experience with „Garni Brunnthaler Hotel” surpassed all our expectations .The staff was welcoming and accommodating right from the moment we checked in . The room and bathroom were very clean, and the view was spectacular. Offered breakfast was also very tasty. During our next visit in Garmisch we definitely will return to this hotel. Great place to stay in Garmisch

This is a very nice family run hotel in a very quiet neighborhood in Garmisch. We walked from the train station with our roller bags with no probem. The rooms are modern with private bathrooms and the hosts are very helpful with questions. The location is great - you can walk to a lot of restaurants in Garmisch and there are many others across the river if you don't mind walking a little further. The town is beautiful. Some mentioned they thought the breakfast was expensive, but I thought it was worth the money. There are a lot of options (including more "American" fare like scrambled eggs and bacon) and the convenience of not having to go anywhere else before our long day exploring was well worth it. 
The room does not have air conditioning, but you can leave your balcony doors open and there is a small fan. The room was plenty comfortable for us in September, but it might be a bit warmer during the hotter months. 
We hiked to the gorge from the hotel - I think it took us 30-40 minutes on what was mostly terrain until the very end via a very nice paved path. The hotel is in a great location for pretty much anything you want to do in the area, including the Zugspitze. Would definitely stay here again.

Quiet hotel in a very nice neighborhood close to everything

This hotel is tucked into a quiet, scenic neighborhood in Garmisch and provides lovely views of the surrounding Bavarian Alps.  Our room was comfortable and we looked forward to sitting out on our balcony after a day of hiking in the area.  It is within easy walking distance of the train station as well as the cog train station to the Zugspitze.  It is close to the walking path that will take you to the Gorge Trail as well.  I would highly recommend including breakfast in your reservation - the breakfast buffet was well worth the cost and a good way to start a day of exploring.  The historic downtown of Garmisch, as well as the historic streets of Partenkirchen were fun to walk through and there are plenty of places to eat lunch or dinner.

In our house you will find a friendly atmosphere and always a tip for your activities. Extensive hiking and skiing trails start right outside the hotel . Various leisure activities are easily accessible from the hotel , the bus station, train station , the Alpspitz wave pool , the Olympic ice rink and the Zugspitze Railway are just minutes away. Also the way to the center of Garmisch with its pedestrian area, shops, restaurants and coffee 's, the casino, theaters and the Congress Centre can be reached in a few minutes.
