We feel that it’s the staff that make this hotel so welcoming. The team at the Hochfilzer are excellent. It is in a great location and the food is delicious. One of our group follows a vegan diet and the choice for breakfast and dinner was so good. A big thank you to Ingrid, Stefan and Andrea. 

Our rooms were comfortable and clean, and housekeeping are lovely. I recommend that you take your own toiletries etc. 
There is a large shampoo/body wash in the bathrooms but I am impressed that this hotel does not provide single use plastic toiletries. We definitely do not need extra plastic! 

There is plenty to do especially if you enjoy walking and hiking. A lift pass is useful however you can enjoy walks without a pass, for example to the Hintersteinersee and the Wochenbrunner Alm. 
The Kaiserjet free bus goes to other villages in the valley and the LineBus takes you to St Johann so there is lots to explore.

Another wonderful visit to Ellmau and the Hotel Hochfilzer.The accomodation,facilities,and food are what you would expect in a 4Star Hotel but what makes this Hotel special is the human factor.From the moment you arrive until the time of your departure you are surrounded by Staff who just want you to have the best possible stay,whether this   be in Check in ,the Bar/Restaurant,or in Cleaning services.We just love the human interaction with the Staff and their sense of humour,but above all else their helpfulness.Over the years we have visited this Hotel there have been changes incuding that of Staff,but what has never changed is the lovely warm atmosphere and the special way in which guests are treated.Much of this is due to the longstanding,irrepressible figure at the head of operations ,namely ,Ingrid.A very special place ,and definitely worth a visit.

We also think that Ellmau at the Wilder Kaiser Mountains and our Hotel Hochfilzer are a perfect holiday place - we are saying this because we can see how much our guests enjoy the atmosphere and the good quality in the Hotel Hochfilzer but also in the whole region of the Wilder Kaiser Mountains - the infrastructure with all the different ski lifts , the ski shuttle bus service and so many different kinds of sports - like cross country skiing, ski touring, snow shoe walking , ice scating and so many more make a weeks holiday in Tirol much tooo short - this is what our lovely guests of our Hotel Hochfilzer keep telling us ! Thank you again for putting a comment on tripadvisor so that a lot of interested people get the information ! Many guests bring their beloved dogs with them and enjoy playing with them in the snowy fields in front of the Wilder Kaiser Mountains ! See you soon ! We had a wonderful stay and we are very grateful to the hotel staff for their warm hospitality. The hotel is family orientated and has a very welcoming atmosphere. The food is absolutely delicious - well done to the chefs and kitchen staff. We enjoyed the family room as it consists of two seperate rooms which was a big bonus. We will definitely try our best to return to this wonderful place.

My dear returning guests - better to say : OUR dear returning guests ! It is wonderful to read lines like yours - especially now that the hotel is closed and it is only the lovely Ladies from reception left on duty, the family and the workmen ! But winter is on its way and we are starting to look forward to welcoming winter enthusiasts from all over the world ! Ellmau offers so much  at any time of year - the Wilder Kaiser Mountains are either stunning to look at or in summer you can even climb them. Ellmau is a perfect summer and winter destination with so many different things to do ....as you know ! The Hotel Hochfilzer tries to complete an interesting day outside by pampering the guests with sumptuous food and a very beautiful infrastructure : Indoor pool, different saunas, jacuzzies, gym and many more things ....Thank you for appreciating and noticing all the additions we made in the last three decades ; in the last decade the yong generation was very ambitious concerning renovations and design ! Christoph and his partner Betty are busy and have lots of ideas. See you as soon as possible back in Ellmau at the Hotel Hochfilzer

Yet another wonderful stay.The weather was decidedly mixed with a combination of beautiful sunny days heavy rain and the greatest amount of snow we have ever experienced  in the many years we have visited here.No matter it was just such a pleasure to be there once again.The   Hochflizer  is such a special place to visit.First and foremost are the Staff who go out out of their way to make sure you have a great time,and nothing is ever too much trouble for them.Standards here are first class but what makes this hotel a standout is that each guest is made to feel so special,and this very much comes from the owner,Ingrid,for her  attention to detail,and her great social interaction with her guests.Having visited over twenty times ,to maintain such high standards must be extremely difficult,but this is what Ingrid and her Staff  have managed to achieve.

Our 430 square metre, charming bath and sauna area is opened daily - the outside jacuzzi on the Kaiser terrace with a marvellous look at our immense mountain massif, the Wilder Kaiser is especially attractive. The Hochfilzer Verwöhnhalbpension exists of traditional and modern kitchen. Many themed evenings make the food experience for you a culinary world trip and, nevertheless, Austria is "travelled around" every day! Dear guests - simply let us know your wishes and we will stand helpfully aside: „Enjoy dream vacation in the savage emperor!"........ and of course with the Hochfilzer in Ellmau!
