This is the second year in a row that I have stayed at the Les Melezes Hotel, and as usual, I have no words to praise this hotel, which throughout my stay gave me a feeling of home. All the service providers are courteous and smiling, the rooms are pleasant and the meals are excellent. I will undoubtedly return again next year.

LOCATION:  Really don't think you can get better, for skiers and non-skiers alike.

ROOM : We booked a junior suite, and were really disappointed.  We had read that the rooms were either contemporary or traditional.  I think for whoever designed the room, it was a self-indulgent experience.  It looked more American ranch with cow hide print tiles on the wall.  A black plastic, padded headboard added to the oddity, and not in a tasteful way.  The bed was two singles pushed together, not unusual in hotels, but the ravine in-between the beds was really apparent. We had no view to speak of from the balcony.  We ordered a suite, as  we are not skiers and spend time chilling there when not out walking.  We were offered another room, not a suite, but as it was up another flight of stairs and my husband having severe lung problems, we declined.  On hearing our disappointment, and suggestion that they could show the different types and availability of suite, for clarity, in the publicity, we were told, that would be confusing for the customer.  Mmmm, no it would give clarity.  Why put the biggest, best suite as the example photo for a suite and just show snippets of the others.  Upon this, we were told, this is a three star hotel, as if our expectations were of a 5 star!  Not so, we usually book three star hotels because, we often find they are family run and better for it.  The previous 2 years we have spent in a 3 star hotel in Italy.  With that hotel, we could see what we were getting and everything perfect. 

LOUNGES AND BAR AREAS :  All communal areas were really nicely decorated and really comfortable.  Perfect for relaxing.  

BREAKFAST :  Breakfast was more than reasonable, when everything was replenished.  We always went mid service so, not late and there was always something you had to ask to be replenished.  The orange juice was the worst and, when it was replenished, it was only to a level of about 10cm so, was never going to last.  Over the 4 days we had to ask for, bacon, two times, ham, orange juice, twice and cold milk, by us alone and many other guests had to do the same.  It makes you feel like a nuisance. I know that waste should be monitored, of course, but this was taken too far. And more than one server could have observed more easily and pre-empted deficiencies. The server worked really hard but most of the time there was only one member of staff, making it impossible, until close to the end of service for clearing. So,  not enough staff at breakfast.

DINNER : Unfortunately, we were unlucky here.  The first night with peasant soup, the broth had absolutely no flavour and lacking salt. And no bacon!!  The second plate was blanquette de veau.  Plenty of tender meat but lacking in flavour and seasoning. (The other nights taste and seasoning weren't the issues so, not a question of our taste)  The Christmas eve gala was very much looked forward to by us.  The starter was delicious, the fish course very good but, unfortunately the main course was cold. Very cold.  It was returned to the kitchen.  The plate, when it came back to us,  was molten hot so, we expected the food to be hot also.  Alas, no.  The outside of the food was hot but inside, just as cold.  Apparently, the plates had just been put under the salamander grill, therefore only blasting the very outside of the food.  The third time we had a fresh plate of food and it was really good.  The display of the 13 desserts was outstanding, absolutely brilliant and tasted really good too.  The last day, I really didn't fancy fish, I asked if it would be possible for something else at the table, chicken was suggested.  Great.  2 pieces of small chicken fillet arrived with a pile of dry pasta, 2 sauces either side. One piece of chicken was a bit overdone, no matter but, the second was raw inside.  I knew it would be from how soft it was on touching with my knife, surely when it was got out of the pan the chef could see that.  It got taken back, when it retuned, no sauce.  Dry pasta!! And, the piece of chicken still wasn't fully cooked.  A disastrous last meal with lack of care from the chef.  Perhaps he was cross having to cook something else.  It certainly looked that way.  Another diner also asked for an alternative and was told no, you have to ask in advance.  But, never were we advised of that.  I've never been to a hotel where there are less than 2 choices for each course on the set menu.  Unusual.  Another note, it said in a brochure for dining times, you could take breakfast in your room, however, when we asked in the afternoon if we could have a pot of tea, we were told no, they didn't do room service.

STAFF :  Last but not least, the staff were amazing.  Nothing too much trouble.  A special mention for Andrew, Remi and Bruno who really know how to make a difference.

Christmas 2025

We were 6 friends in 3 different room types on a skiing holiday. It is a beautifully decorated hotel. Great position. All the staff, especially the waiters and bar staff were so friendly. There are several lounge areas for after dinner, with plenty of seating.  A real treat after staying in hotels where there's a mad rush for the totally inadequate number of seats for the amount of guests!  Food was restaurant quality, though a bit of a choice would have been nice. Plenty to eat at breakfast too. Rooms were very smart and warm, though some were a bit too cosy!  Best hotel we've stayed in! Thank you Les Melezes for a fabulous holiday!

Perfect Hotel, with plenty of comfortable lounges. The best friendly staff too!

This week my wife and I weee determined to try different places to eat 
We had lunch on the slopes at Les Melezes today
Service was a bit slow (quite busy)
Food was excellent - my boudin noir was superb
