Hotel Martin

Sauze d'Oulx

Great location in the quiet, traditional village of Jouvenceaux, close enough to the lift to walk to, but we opted to pay Gabriel 10 euro each to be taken and picked up each day. Transfer from Turin airport was about 1hr 10 minutes.
The hotel has a friendly atmosphere, after dinner many guests used the warm comfortable bar area. The drinks are very reasonable and they serve coffee (latte macchiato cost 2.50 euro, glass of wine 5 euro, amaretto 5 euro) There was also a TV, selection of games and books along with table football in the adjacent room.
To be honest the rooms are on the smaller side, the double rooms are all about the same size (c. 10.5 sq m), we could have done with a chest of drawer for extra storage. The rooms were warm and the bed was comfortable. Our room was cleaned every day and we had fresh towels half way through the week. There was plentiful hot water for showers at the end of the day.
This hotel is very good value for money and not at all noisy.
Gabriel is a great host, very friendly, quick to respond if there's a problem (the hairdryer in our room didn't work, he leant me another one immediately and the one in the room was fixed in a couple of days).
Personally, we found much of the food wasn't to our taste, we didn't think that some of the dishes were particularly flavourful, but I enjoyed the desserts.
The boot room is spacious and can be accessed directly from outside the hotel down some stairs.

Great value hotel

Fantastic Family Friendly Hotel.

Gabriel and the team here are absolutely brilliant and nothing was too much trouble.

We stayed for 7 nights as part of a Crystal ski holiday package, on a half board basis. 

Rooms are medium size but perfectly comfortable with great views of the surrounding mountains. Breakfast and evening meal were varied and filling, much needed after a hard day on the slopes!

There is a cool communal area and bar for chilling in the evenings if you don’t want to go into town. Excellent location close to the Jouvenceaux chairlift. Steep walk into town but there are buses if needed.

Fantastic Family Friendly Hotel.

Nice clean, cosy family-run place. Extremely lovely and efficient staff. Lots of guests talk about how they have been going for years. I think you get what you pay for. Food is low quality and small portions, I would describe as posh school dinners. Breakfast has usual meat, cheese, bread, fruit, yoghurt, cereals and cheap coffee. Rooms and beds are knackered and dated with hardly any plug sockets and stuff not working. Big hike with 125m altitude gain up to Sauze for a supermarket or anything. They do very clean beer and understand British tea culture, which was a great plus!

Cute but basic

For a budget hotel this was a very good option! The ambience is really lovely; a family-run hotel, it's very relaxed. The room we had left a little to be desired (broken light took a couple of days to fix; only one electrical socket in the entire room, in an inconvenient place...) but it was comfortable and the shower was great! 
The food was plentiful and sustaining - nothing too fancy, but the 5-course dinner was aways fun. Our dietary needs were well catered-for, although for the first few nights, the vegetarian main course did seem to be just a variation of a tortilla omelette! But honestly, no complaints. The hotel is out of town which means it's a great quiet location, with a ski-hire shop over the road.
The €10 pp for the personal mini-bus shuttle to the chairlift in the morning and evening is well worth it, since while it's only a very short walk, it's a steeeeeep hill, and rather than carrying those skis after a day on the slopes, the minibus is a welcome treat. And there seemed to never be a queue at the Jouvenceaux lift of a morning.
There's no greater recommendation than knowing that so many people we met come back here year after year.

Lovely, family-run hotel out of town, so in a quiet area

Another fantastic stay at Hotel Martin, Gabriele and the team have absolutely nailed the home-away-from-home atmosphere.

Cosy bar, wide selection of beers, wines, cocktails and soft drinks with a tonne of free snacks ranging from cakes, biscuits, crisps, meats, cheeses and other canapés every day when you return from the slopes. 

Dinner is 4 courses each night with good portion sizes - always empty plates but never hungry!

Rooms are clean and maintained daily, but I would recommend bringing an extension lead as there are only a limited number of sockets in the rooms. Beds comfy enough and showers good. If you are a light sleeper I would recommend ear plugs as the walls are fairly thin, and noise travels easily but no issue if you’re a deep sleeper!

Daily shuttle service offered by Gabriele for €10 (for the whole week!) is worth its weight in gold, simple phone call and he meets you at the bottom of the piste with his van every day. Ideal! 

Lastly, eating at the hotel-recommended restaurant (I believe this is the families other business) “Grange Tachier” is 100% a must. The journey in a snowcat to the restaurant (it’s up the mountain) and the attentive waiters + sommelier add to the experience  

This was our second stay at Hotel Martin and there will definitely be a third in 2027.
