We stayed in two apartments in the Residenz while skiing in Obertauern for a few days. The place was very clean, well equiped and new and modern. The location (just below the castle and on the edge of a stream) was great. Our hosts were wonderful both before and during our stay.

Wonderful stay in a lovely location

This home away from home underneath Mauterndorf Castle, right next to a powerfully flowing stream, was a wonderful 10 day stop on our summer vacation. A natural swimming pool heated via heat exchanger and geothermal heating, their own hydro power station and eBikes for hire. I was in heaven. 
There are super modern rooms or the older "Grandma type" rooms ( sort of 70's rustic style) that are of course cheaper....but who stays inside anyway? We were out swimming or hiking or biking our whole stay.
The owners also have a sports equipment store and can rent what the heart desires. Nice place.

Excellent service, apartment, location and overall holiday experience.  We had a wonderful holiday in the beautiful area of Austria in Aug 15.  The proximity of the apartment from the town allows you to visit a good selection of restaurants within 5 mins walk and the Quellenwasser apartment was both modern and quality in every respect.  During our stay we received genuine service Thomas / Family who couldn't have been more helpful in recommending places to visit, arranging mountain bikes, fresh bread rolls every morning etc.  We hope to be back again soon.

We had a great experience in Aptmt Wolfgang at Hackenschmeide in late June/July this year.  Thomas (son of the owner) was there to welcome us - in fact he even checked that we were having no problem finding the place whilst we were travelling down from Salzburg.  Throughout the week Thomas was only too happy to help give us directions or organise anything we needed - rental bikes (delivered to the property), bread rolls, even a loaned tennis racquet when one of ours got broken.

The apartment was splendid with plenty of space for the teenagers in my family to avoid their parents, comfortable beds and well maintained fixtures and fittings.  We explicitly went to this apartment because it allowed use of the excellent tennis court and we weren't disappointed.  

Beyond this I can wholeheartedly recommend both Mauterndorf and the Lungau region as a great holiday destination for those who prefer an active vacation.
