Now to qualify the title. Fernie Grand Hotel and Residence (AKA Silver Point) is a condo complex that is really quite nice. Located on HWY 3 on the south side of town close to the hill but still a okay walk to down town. The amenities are nice and the suite we rented was well stocked with towels, dishes bedding etc. The suite was large and spacious with three bedrooms; the master was large with a nice on suite. 
Why the bad score then? These suites are managed by an offsite management company that’s good for taking money but if there is an issue… well, as we found out…you’re on your own.  One of the people in our party plugged the toilet, after an extensive search we could not find a plunger. So we made a call to the management company to rectify the situation, we were told that a maintenance person would come by. Only later to get a voice mail letting us know that there would be no help until Monday, this happened Saturday morning, needless to say with seven adults this was not acceptable. There were no offers to help rectify the situation (new room) or get a contractor out to do something. Basically we had to go buy a plunger and clear the issue ourselves (which we did).
There was also an issue with doors locking us out, mainly in the hot tub area where the door swipe decided not to work, making us have to walk around the back of the hotel in our bare feet. As my friend said “at least it’s not minus 30 today” which would have posed a problem.
The early check out kind of was a pain as well (10:00am).
For the cost of this suite I find these mechanical issues and the unwillingness to rectify them unacceptable. They knew about the toilet, granted we didn’t say anything about the hot tub door, I expect that stuff to be checked all of the time as it’s a safety/security issue.
In short, I’m not going to be rushing back anytime soon, it’s too bad thogh.
