I had the most fabulous and restorative 4 days at Lake Bohinj and Hotel Majerca. I had a beautiful deluxe room with a sauna, which I used every day. Dinners at the restaurant were simply exquisite. I had trout the first night, paired with local wines. And my last dinner there I had the flank steak, which was really spectacular. It melted in my mouth, the flavors were incredible. Breakfast was just as good, I don’t know what they put in their eggs, but they were delicious. The staff - both at dinner time, and at breakfast - were outstanding, true professionals. It’s a small boutique hotel with a small staff, so they’re all wearing many hats as they serve you your breakfast or help you check out for the day. I was really impressed with the people at Hotel Majerca. Bravo to all of them!

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at this picture perfect boutique hotel with a good location, modern decor and a friendly and welcoming staff.  Our 4 course dinner at their restaurant was excellent - we enjoyed every course, especially the tomato/feta cream appetizer, the shrimp appetizer and the flank steak.  They willingly accommodated our extra early departure time and sent us along our way with a delicious packed breakfast which was much appreciated. This is an excellent place to both stay and dine near lovely Lake Bohinj.

This was the friendliest hotel we found on our trip in Slovenia. Staff were welcoming and helpful. The room was very small and next to a road but fine for an overnight stay. The food at dinner and at breakfast was very good. Particularly helpful was that the hotel offered free parking next to the hotel.

Pros: location, breakfast, view from restaurant/lawn 
Cons: poor customer service, lack of hot water
Our family of 4 stayed in 14B, a family room. There was an issue with the hot water heater, so that there was only about 7 minutes worth of hot water to shower (for a family of 4). The reception desk is not staffed, with a sign asking that we speak with someone at the restaurant— so we spoke with one of the waiters who seemed annoyed/put out. No one got back to us with whether issue was resolved. We had the same issue the next day, told the same person again, and it was again met with indifference/annoyance. Given that there was still no one at reception I emailed the hotel and received a response by email from Kristina thanking us for bringing it to their attention. Meanwhile we were having dinner at their restaurant and the waiters were curt and provided minimal service (did not replace empty water until we asked twice, never filled our wine glasses, never checked on us.)  
On check out we found out from Kristina that she did not know about the issue until she spoke with the waiters after getting our email- which probably explains their cold service. Though she gave us a discount on the room charges Kristina’s “apology” for not just the cold showers but also the poor communication/service was inadequate, mostly bringing up no access to a plumber over the weekend. It seems like a poor staffing model if legitimate customer concerns have to be brought to waiters, who appear bothered by the interruption, and do not communicate with the higher ups.
We have spent over a week in Slovenia and everyone we met had been lovely and gracious- this experience stood out as unusual and unfortunately left us with a bad taste. We would not stay here again.

Cold shower, cold service

We thought this place was great. Very modern styling with thoughtful layout of the room. We got the room with a deck which had a lovely view and the private sauna- that was a kick! The breakfasts were excellent served a la carte so you could  pick  what you wanted and be  served rather than pick from a buffet. We had one dinner there which I found excellent, my husband a little less so. Lake Bohinj is lovely,  much quieter than Lake Bled but equally beautiful. There is nice hiking around. You are about a 10 minute walk from the lake.

Butique Hotel Majer'ca is located 300m from lake Bohinj in the heart of Julian Alps. Modern styled rooms offer a great experience, a separate seating area, a large terrace (some) with rest chairs, a balcony (some) with a view to the lake or mountains, TV, phone, a private bathroom. Two rooms with private sauna. Hotel has a restaurant and a bar with garden. Close to ski resort and ideal for your bike or hiking trip start.
