If you wanted to create the perfect ski resort ideally situated in one of the highest and most spectacular ski areas of the French Alps, you’d probably come up with Avoriaz – which is what they did. Purpose-built in the 1960s, traffic free and at 1,800m, perfectly located to access the highest slopes, Avoriaz is one of those resorts well placed to withstand the irregularities of mother nature.
Positioned within the Portes du Soleil ski area, the resort gives access to an incredible 266 pistes for all abilities, 10 snowparks and 89 slopeside restaurants. With no traffic bar the occasional horse-drawn sleigh, the town is charm itself, and children friendly.
