Welcome to Flaine Ski Resort

Flaine is one of our most popular resorts, known for its reliable snow and ski-in-ski-out convenience. It’s also big, giving access to 265km of beginner and intermediate pistes of the Grand Massif ski area, one of France’s largest, from wide bowls to tree lined runs. Its fans love the fact you can virtually fall out of bed and be on the slopes – most accommodation lying within easy reach of lifts. The north-facing bowl above the town also has a reputation for maintaining its snow cover – and the chance to drop in between the pistes. Flaine is a good choice for boarders being home to the biggest terrain park in the Grand Massif, which features a quarter pipe, tables, rails and a boardercross course.

Best time to ski in Flaine

With free lifts on the beginner slopes, an excellent ski school and childcare facilities, Flaine is naturally popular with families and will be busier at the peak periods around Christmas and February half term. If you’re looking for a bargain or quieter time, check the school holidays. Flaine has a great reputation for snow and is one of the snowiest resorts in France. The resort is at a respectable altitude of 1,600m with plenty of skiing above 2,000m, meaning the season runs from mid December to mid April.

Things to do in Flaine

Flaine is a purpose built resort designed for skiing. If you’ve got non-skiers in the party, it may not be the best option. That said, there’s some great cross-country skiing in the area, arguably the best work-out you can give your legs and lungs. Dog-sledding and ice driving can also be arranged. In town there’s a pool, gym and spa open to the public. Après isn’t the wildest in Flaine – it’s not why you come here – but there are some great restaurants serving everything from pizza to traditional Haute Savoie favourites like tartiflette and raclette.
