Welcome to Soldeu Ski Resort

Soldeu is part of the Grandvalira ski area of Andorra, which also includes Pas de la Casa, and is one of the most popular places to ski in the region. Combined, the area gives access to almost 200km of pistes, with most runs in the blue to red intermediate zone. If you’re a beginner this is a great place to learn. But there are still several black runs for the ambitious. Snowboarders are also well catered for with three terrain parks to be found in the Grandvalira, one of which, Sunset Park Henrik Harlaut, opens at night, from 4pm to 9pm. It’s a real hub for freestyle riders. And when you stop for a breather and a beer, the eclectic choice of bars on the mountain makes the Andorran skiing experience a totally different vibe to anywhere else.

Best time to ski in Soldeu

The season runs from mid December until mid April. You can find great snow conditions at any time but if things are lean, Soldeu does benefit from its situation – most slopes face north so they hold the snow well, it has a good altitude with skiing up to 2,600m, and snowmaking machines cover more than 40% of slopes. That offers a high degree of reliability. Of course, one of Andorra’s key appeals is its price and you can improve on that by going off-season, avoiding the busiest periods of Christmas, New Year and February holidays. March and April offer longer and warmer days.

Things to do in Soldeu

There’s dog sledding, snowshoeing and snowmobiling on offer in Soldeu. There’s also ice skating in Canillo, a ten minute drive away. This being Andorra, the shopping is always a big attraction with fewer taxes on goods and no duty on alcohol, tobacco and perfumes (but always double check your allowances). The après is a little less hectic than Pas de la Casa but there are still some lively places to let your hair down, from the Irish pub The Harp to later on at Fat Albert’s (which also has an extensive menu) where the drinks flow and the music is pumped loud. There are also some great restaurants offering traditional Andorran mountain food to fondues.
