Once the purpose-built poor relation of upmarket Val d’Isère, Tignes has emerged from its neighbour’s shadow to become one of the most happening resorts in the Alps. It’s home to some epic freeriding for both skiers and boarders, genuinely brilliant for beginners and intermediates and some of the liveliest après bars. What’s not to love?
Situated at 2,100m, it gives access to 300km of pistes across the Tignes-Val d’Isère area, with the Grande Motte lift going up to 3,400m. And when it’s a powder day, the options are limitless. Think untracked snow off the piste and for the adventurous, steep and soft turns between the trees.
