Welcome to walking in La Clusaz

  • 200km+ of trails across the Aravis mountain range
  • Quintessentially French alpine village feel
  • Brilliant for families and leisurely walkers
Walking holidays in La Clusaz offer something rare: genuine French Alpine charm. Set at 1,100m in the Massif des Aravis - the same range the Tour de France loves to climb - La Clusaz is a hiking destination with soul.
Walks in La Clusaz range from gentle valley ambles through wildflower meadows to more demanding Alpine ridge routes across the Aravis range, with the dramatic Bischofsmütze-rivalling Pointe Percée as the ultimate summit target. The Beauregard plateau is a local favourite - panoramic, accessible, and dotted with some of the best rifugio-style restaurants.
And the day trips? Outstanding. The pretty lakeside city of Annecy is just 30km away by bus, while the Grand-Bornand valley next door adds even more trail variety for those wanting to go a little further off the beaten path.

How to get around La Clusaz

How our self-guided La Clusaz walking holidays work:

Our self-guided trips let you set your own pace, from the length of your stay, to how far you walk each day. But if you’re used to group or guided holidays, you might be wondering how you’ll get around? Well, it’s easy…

Getting to and around town:

Your airport transfer is included with your trip. Once there, you’ll find La Clusaz a charming, traditional French village with a church-topped square, mountain-ringed views, and a lovely selection of shops and restaurants.

Getting to your walks and hikes:

Many trails start directly from the village, and the four summer lifts  - the Beauregard gondola, Crêt du Merle chairlift, Crêt du Loup chairlift, and Patinoire gondola - are all within easy walking distance, giving you easy access to plateau trails and higher terrain. Local buses run to nearby Grand-Bornand, Les Confins, and Annecy in July and August.
