The Beauregard plateau is a local favourite - panoramic, accessible, and dotted with some of the best rifugio-style restaurants.
And the day trips? Outstanding. The pretty lakeside city of Annecy is just 30km away by bus, while the Grand-Bornand valley next door adds even more trail variety for those wanting to go a little further off the beaten path.

Getting to and around town:
Your airport transfer is included with your trip. Once there, you’ll find La Clusaz a charming, traditional French village with a church-topped square, mountain-ringed views, and a lovely selection of shops and restaurants.
Getting to your walks and hikes:
Many trails start directly from the village, and the four summer lifts - the Beauregard gondola, Crêt du Merle chairlift, Crêt du Loup chairlift, and Patinoire gondola - are all within easy walking distance, giving you easy access to plateau trails and higher terrain. Local buses run to nearby Grand-Bornand, Les Confins, and Annecy in July and August.

Can I still access La Clusaz's lift and gondolas in the summer?
Yes, you can. La Clusaz's lifts and gondolas still operate throughout the summer months, provided conditions are safe and favourable, and many of the mountain huts are still operational, so you can grab a bite to eat while savouring those epic mountain views.
When do La Clusaz's lifts and gondolas run during summer?

- Operating times: 09:30 – 17:15
- Open: Weekends from 14th June 2026; daily from 2nd July 2026
- Closes: 31st August 2026 (weekends only until 21st September 2026)
A quick "Mountain Rule of Thumb": Last ascent is usually 15–30 minutes before the official closing time, and Last descent is the very last cabin down. If you miss it, it’s a long walk back!
Can I hire a mountain guide on my La Clusaz walking holiday?
Yes, you can. Though these are not currently bookable via the Heidi website, you can enquire and book with the local tourist office, or visit their website. We recommend enquiring early to ensure availability.
