Best time to ski in Wengen

Set upon a southwest-facing mountain terrace, Wengen is sheltered and bathed in glorious sunshine most of the ski season from December to early April. Sunnies on! This does mean that the snow can be a bit temperamental at lower altitudes, but there are plenty of runs higher up the mountain to play on, and lots of snow cannons keep the main slopes topped up. In January, tens of thousands of spectators arrive to watch the International Lauberhorn Race - the longest downhill Ski World Cup. And don’t miss Wengen’s dazzling Snow Shows during February - expect jaw-dropping tricks, floodlit processions, and fireworks. Boomtastic!

Things to do in Wengen

One of the biggest highlights of Wengen has to be its mountain railway. Climbing to a lofty 3,454 metres, it’s the highest train station in Europe! Catch a ride to the Jungfraujoch Sphinx Observatory for spectacular panoramas over the peaks of Jungfrau, Mönch, and Eiger. And whilst you’re here, why not wander through the frosty corridors of the Ice Palace, or take a spin on the snow tubing slopes at the Snow Fun Park? Weeeee! Back in Wengen, the apres ski is laid-back and relaxed. Traditional restaurants serve up delicious Swiss Alpine food, and the local pizzeria will keep you fuelled up for big days on the hill.
