Welcome to walking in La Massana

  • Gateway to Comapedrosa and Andorra's highest peak
  • Ancient Camí Ral trails, glacial lakes, and rugged ridge walks
  • All the hiking, all the biking, half the crowds
La Massana is one of the best bases for hiking in the Pyrenees. Walking holidays in La Massana put you at the foot of Comapedrosa Natural Park, home to Andorra's highest summit, with gondola access from the village centre to a vast network of marked trails.
Leisurely walkers will love Camí Ral - an ancient Royal Road that follows the Valira d'Orient river south through pine forests, Romanesque chapels, and old stone bridges. Meanwhile, hikers can ride the gondola up to the Pal sector for ascents to the Pic de Carroi and the 2,943m Comapedrosa summit - with views across Andorra, France, and Spain in a single sweep.
The village itself is realxed, with good restaurants and easy transport connections. But if you're looking to explore further, the legendary Pal Arinsal Bikepark is a must - with 60km of trails and 1,000m of vertical drop.

How to get around La Massana

How our self-guided La Massana walking holidays work:

Our self-guided trips let you set your own pace, from the length of your stay, to how far you walk each day. But if you’re used to group or guided holidays, you might be wondering how you’ll get around? Well, it’s easy…

Getting to and around town:

Your airport transfer is included with your trip. Once there, you'll find it's a short stroll from most accommodation to the village centre - and many of the best valley trails start directly from the resort, no transport needed.

Getting to your walks and hikes:

Departing from town, the La Massana gondola whisks you up 675m to the Pal sector, opening up a high-mountain trail network.
The L5 and L6 buses connect La Massana to Andorra la Vella, Arinsal, and Ordino, with connections to Comapedrosa running every 30 minutes.
