Welcome to Fernie Ski Resort

With epic and reliable snowfall, Canada’s Fernie ski resort is big on deep powder and swell tree-lined runs. Carve through snow-dusted forests in the Siberia and Timber bowls, or head to Polar Peak for wide runs and superb flow. Advanced skiers can't get enough of the steep verticals, and daredevils can test their nerves on narrow 40-degree chutes.
Taking newbies with you? The lower mountain boasts clusters of easygoing green runs, and Lizard Bowl's mellow blues will keep early intermediates happy. An old mining town, Fernie downtown oozes historical charm with turn-of-the-century architecture and timber-clad lodges.

Best time to ski in Fernie

December and January are hands down the best time to ski in Fernie for fresh powder. But with reliable snow from December to April, you're spoilt for choice throughout the season. Cue big powder runs! Sunny bluebird days are likely in February and March, and April is blessed with warmer temperatures and extra daylight hours for more time on the slopes. Feel the burn! The weekends can get busy with local skiers from Calgary, so aim for a mid-week break to avoid the crowds. And if you're travelling during the holidays, there's usually a decent schedule of events and activities in town.

Things to do in Fernie

Soak up laid-back and easygoing apres-ski in Fernie. Split across the ski resort and the town a few miles away, you can choose from convenient ski-in/ski-out accommodation on the mountain or somewhere closer to the shops, restaurants and bars. End a fun day on the slopes with an ice-cold beer and live music at the Griz bar, or take in panoramic views of the striking Elk Valley from the lofty Lost Boys Cafe.
There's also plenty to do away from the slopes. Grab a pair of snowshoes to explore the snowy Canadian wilderness, or relax on a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the forests. Giddy-up!
