Getting to and around town:
Your airport transfer is included with your trip. Once there, you’ll find Les Houches a relaxed, walkable village spread along the Chamonix valley floor, with trails accessible straight from the village and both the Prarion gondola and Bellevue cable car within easy reach on foot.
Getting to your walks and hikes:
The Prarion gondola (open from 13th June) and Bellevue cable car (open from 6th June) give you quick, scenic access to high-mountain trails. The Tramway du Mont Blanc train runs from nearby Saint-Gervais all the way up to the Nid d’Aigle, and regular buses connect to nearby Chamonix in around 15 minutes.

Can I still access Les Houches' lift and gondolas in the summer?
Yes, you can. Les Houches' lifts and gondolas still operate throughout the summer months, provided conditions are safe and favourable, and many of the mountain huts are still operational, so you can grab a bite to eat while savouring those epic mountain views.
When do Les Houches' lifts and gondolas run during summer?
Prarion Gondola
- Operating times: 09:15 – 17:00
- Open: 13th June (weekends); 27th June (daily)
- Closes: 6th September
Hauts Forts Gondola
- Operating times: 07:30 – 17:30 (17:00 low season)
- Opens: 6th June
- Closes: 13th September
A quick "Mountain Rule of Thumb": Last ascent is usually 15–30 minutes before the official closing time, and Last descent is the very last cabin down. If you miss it, it’s a long walk back!
Can I hire a mountain guide on my Les Houches walking holiday?
Yes, you can. Though these are not currently bookable via the Heidi website, you can enquire and book with the local tourist office, or visit their website. We recommend enquiring early to ensure availability.
