Welcome to walking in Alta Badia

  • 400km+ of trails through the UNESCO Dolomites
  • Dramatic towers, high alpine passes, legendary rifugio stops
  • For walkers who refuse to compromise on scenery or lunch
At the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites' towering mastiffs in Italy, you'll find Alta Badia’s high plateaus, nature parks, and flower-festooned alpine meadows. Ideal for travellers who relish a perfect day ending with a well-earned, heaping bowl of pasta at the rifugio.
Alta Badia hiking holidays span everything from walks across the wildflower fields of Pralongiá and Armentara to serious via ferrata and summit hikes. Leisurely walkers will enjoy plateau ambles and gondola-assisted ascents to striking viewpoints, while experienced scramblers can take on the 3,000m+ peaks of the Sella Group, Sassongher, and Cir.
It’s true what they say. In Alta Badia, it’s impossible to stand still.

How to get around Alta Badia

How our self-guided Alta Badia walking holidays work:

Our self-guided trips let you set your own pace, from the length of your stay, to how far you walk each day. But if you’re used to group or guided holidays, you might be wondering how you’ll get around? Well, it’s easy…

Getting to and around town:

Your transfer from the airport is included with your trip. Once there, you’ll find Alta Badia a pedestrian-friendly paradise, with excellent walks straight from the resort. Enjoy easy meadow trails, well-paved paths, and lifts to high-altitude routes — all dotted with welcoming rifugio huts for a bite.

Getting to your walks and hikes:

Alta Badia's summer lifts run from mid-June to early October — connecting the valley villages to high-altitude hikes and opening up the trail network without the need for a car. Local buses also link you to the wider Dolomites and the resorts of Val Gardena and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
