We had the best holiday in this beautiful hotel . We have done a lot of walking holidays in Austria , but never seen it in the snow . This hotel ticked every box for us . Warm and  comfortable and friendly. Walking was fairly easy There is a fantastic walk to Oberau , took about 1 hour 10 mins . We were also very near the ski slopes so able to watch skiing .Breakfast was excellent and we could not fault the 4 course evening meal . 2 choices and a vegetarian option . Thank you for our lovely winter holiday in your hotel.

What a beautiful hotel

A couple of minor points but not important enough to downgrade from 5. Firstly, the shower head had limescale blocking the flow (as usual in hotels) but I always bring a pin with me so I do it myself, however, it really is something that should be checked every so often and de-scaled. The first evening was a bit frustrating, several coaches arrived at the same time and I was given a time to be at the table, 19.15. We all waited and waited, finally after about 45 minutes we asked when we would get our meal and the situation was explained to us. We finally got our meals around 20.15. The rest of the days were really nice, the room was very warm, albeit slightly scruffy but functional. The owners were very pleasant and the staff worked very hard to make sure we had the best time. I asked for a shower mat and it was in my room the same day. Drinks at the bar were very reasonable priced. There is a kettle in the room so take tea and coffee sachets with you as I did as the bar doesn’t open until afternoon so if you have to stay in due to the weather I’m not sure if you can get a drink from anywhere else. Overall a great few days. Thanks.

My room was lovely and had everything I needed.  The food was great - good selection at breakfast and delicious choices for evening meal.  
Everywhere was clean and looked cared for.  Someone on our trip had issue with their hairdryer not working but that was put right when she reported it.
Emily was lovely as were all the staff.
I wasn't expecting a 5 star hotel as part of a coach tour but I was definitely pleasantly surprised.
I would happily come back.

Lovely, family run hotel

Part of a Leger Battlefield Tour group, we had stayed in some dire hotels. Till now. Beautiful hotel, greeted at the door by Emily, owner, some previous visitors got a big hug! Fantastic wood inside, all genuine pine, no plastic beams here. Lovely wooden sculptures and displays. Most staff speak English well, those that didn’t would go and find someone who did. Really I should learn German. Great dinner, hot and excellent service. Emily came to each table to check we were ok, a feature sadly lacking in a lot of hotels. Big choice at breakfast, again well cooked and presented. The room totally amazing, spacious, spotless, again wonderful. I would love to see it in the snow, good excuse to return. You must go, ask about the harp on the front of the building, fascinating story but I’m not saying any more! Go! Thank you Emily and staff

Beautiful location on the edge of the village, with a few shops and restaurants a short walk away. Some rooms have fantastic views over the surrounding mountains. Be sure to try the nearby cable car if you can.

The hotel itself is clean and reasonably well presented, it is a bit of a rabbit warren and can take some getting around. What lets it down is attention to detail, lamps not working, bulbs out, loose or broken furniture in rooms, cracked and broken tiles in the pool or on stairs etc. As others have said, while the rooms are clean and spacious, some are looking tired and dated.

The facilities are excellent, having indoor and outdoor pools, a gym and health spa. However a lot of these appeared to be closed during our stay. There is a small charge to hire towels, robes and slippers for use in the pool areas.

The staff in the main were all polite, helpful and friendly. Everyone spoke some English. I will echo the concerns of others that the lack of any staff during the night is a safety issue that the hotel needs to address urgently. 

The food on the whole was very good, we had no real issues with the food. While you choose your evening meal at breakfast, this is understandable when dealing with large groups. The breakfast choice is extensive and again the food was very good. indeed. Water at the tables is not difficult or costly, so why not supply some?

There is a small reasonably stocked bar and a good wine list, the prices for both not being excessive.

Overall a very nice stay, having no real issues with the hotel. You do feel that it is geared to extract every Euro they can from you though.

We would quite happily rate it at 5 stars if the small things and attention to detail were addressed. 

Yes we would stay here again.
